Cyril the Wolf
http://cyril.arnoldascher.com/covers/atopasingingmountain2.mp3 Why? Why do I like the soft songs from Chrono Trigger so much? Someday I will finish my currently defunct mix of At the Bottom of Night, but for now, Singing Mountain has caught my ear. Very early wip just some acoustic guitar, strings and bells. Along with the vocals... oh yea the lyrics are thusly: Through all of the ages I feel that I have gone I have not met anyone as beautiful as you And though I know you love me And I believe that I love you I must intervene for the future Even if it takes my life The black wind howls through me as I feel my life slip away But I want you to carry on and Defeat this demon one day... Please don't cry... I know the future is barren And humanity has no hope Technology has turned against them What if there was a chance?? I know you believed in free will and that we had to power to change So keep on with our mission I swear It'll be okay... But atop a singing mountain I saw your face again Tears in your eyes Happiness etched on your face... Your will has given me life All the lives We will save Are worth the centuries In the End We Will be Together once again.. Atop a singing mountain I never thought I'd return But with an egg you hatched potential and now I know of grace I missed you... It's now time to face him To reclaim what is ours our future is not decided by a demon from afar... All this was played live... so yea. Comments on the mix itself, anything that could be added or subtracted, production tips... anything! Thanks! Source Below EDIT: To any one who listened to the first one, its my bad... I accidentally posted the wrong one! HAHA!
SoulinEther
How you sing in the end (last stanza + "I missed you") sounds more appropriate for this piece. I think if you can sort of meet your styles halfway in between (louder, but not necessarily shouting, and with softer emotion), because I really wasn't feeling how you were singing a lot of the time, this would be a stronger piece? The guitar seemed ok, there was this one section at like 3:02-3:04, 3:13-15 that I'm not sure about, kind of abrupt... that whole solo section I think could use work. No idea what the source is, so I can't really comment on interpretation,... er, but I think adding vocals in should suffice, heh. But I like the ideas here. Plus guitar. Just... not so much the singing. A few weirdnesses with the lyrics themselves that may get ironed out with better singing. Tons of potential, and as you said, this is a "very early wip" and everything is done live so, like I guess they say, practice makes perfect. (Unless you're me. Then practice just makes you frustrated and scream "fuck it" and give up, lol)
Cyril the Wolf
Listen now... I mistakenly put up the wrong one. I dunno if the vocals are any better but. lol
SoulinEther
Listen now... I mistakenly put up the wrong one. I dunno if the vocals are any better but. lol Production-wise I think they sound more cohesive with the accompaniment. Still, I question the style. Did you sing the lyrics all at once, or did you break it down into parts?
Cyril the Wolf
All at once, just to get the idea out there.
