SSB Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 http://ocrwip.fireslash.net/?fid=470 update 10/1 The ocean theme ( ) as well as hints of outset! This is still a very very very very early wip and not even close to being like half way written, but I like it so far so I want to share and get feedback on what's here. I'm aiming for ocr quality this time around, so be harsh. Quote
Rozovian Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Tried this one myself a while back. Should pick it up, finish it up. Later. A little boxy arrangement, each segment has a very distinct sound, the second/third segment is actually pretty repetitive. Too much chimes and the fireworks-like sounds. Noticed two Outset references, nice. The biggest problem with orchestral pieces is getting them to sound orchestral, not just done with orchestral sounds. The arrangement sounds like it'd work orchestrally, but figuring out how to make your samples sounds passably realistic is gonna be tricky. Haven't figured that out myself either. Quote
SSB Posted September 27, 2009 Author Posted September 27, 2009 I'm aware of the issue of separation.. right now I'm not too worried about it since it's just stating the main theme. I can address the repetition, but I definitely at least intend on blending it all together into something more unified and connected. Whether or not I am successful remains to be seen Quote
Rom Tom Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Chimes are causing some clipping.. I think the error lies in the chimes, themselves, and it might be fixable by lowering the higher end of its EQ... either that or trying to find an alternative sound for them... Other then that.. try adding more reverb or possibly delay for some of the instruments... and/or making them sound fuller. This is an enjoyable arrangement of this song.. so far one of the best I've heard. I wait for the moment I may be able to hear the finished product:-P Quote
