Malcos
The mastering on this is very strange, there are definitely a few frequences missing here, it's like the whole thing has been gutted. As a result this lacks grit. I'll come back to this one after I've listened some more.
Vig
i am not really feeling the mastering problems you claim. snappleman says the upload was messed and now the real one is up. whatever this is much more solid than most of hte metal remixes we get. the playing is tight, it isnt repetitive, it isnt too long for the style, and the instruments are separated and clear. i'd like to verify with someone that it isnt too close to the original, but for now it gets a YES
Malcos
Oh the file has changed completely, size and all! I see he's using the 'upload' technique while waiting in the queue. Anyway, this sounds a lot better than the one I downloaded before. I like everything about this, the instruments are clear and the percussion has snap. So as long as this isn't a rip, I give this a YES
GrayLightning
This isn't a mere cover. Although Snappleman's arrangements tend to be on the more conservative side than we would like at OCR, this one is definitely passable. The original is also only about a minute long. He did a good job expanding the material without making it repetitive. Snapple goes for that metal sound and he pulls it off quite authentically here, especially with the drum sequencing *which is excellent by the way*. Nice mixing, mastering, although I prefer the older version where the synth line wasn't so shrill. Still this is easily a Yes from me.
Protricity
Biggest issue with this song is that the lead is so damned quiet and muffled. Drum samples are good, and unlike many rock submissions, it actually has a bassline! That lead is really annoying me, so I'm rather borderline. At some points I can barely hear it at all. Borderline NO because such a small problem shouldn't have been overlooked in an otherwise good remix. __________________________________________________________________ Had a talk with snapplefag. Apparently he agrees but deleted the work files. Can't be fixed now, so YES
