white-tea Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 hey guys, I'm working on a cover of skychase zone act 1 from sonic 2 and I just wanted some input before I submitted it to the judges. This was all recorded on various guitars of mine using audacity. I figured I'd try going for a folk feel on this one, for most of the song I tried emulating the various sounds that you hear while you're playing the level. Here is a link to the original for reference. Thanks for listening! Quote
Rozovian Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Not the best guitar sound, not a very tight performance (especially the bass), arrangement seems like an intro followed by a guitars cover of the source repeated a few times. I don't see this passing. I think an all-guitar track is a cool idea, and your outro is hilarious, but I think this track would get three quick NOs if it made it to the panel. Work on getting your recordings tighter and your arrangements more varied and/or with a some direction. Consider getting something more than Audacity to work with, it should help you get your stuff up to par. Quote
white-tea Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 Not the best guitar sound which one in particular? The lead? I thought the rhythm was pretty good. I've also been debating re-recording the bass, I guess I will now. As for the arrangement I was debating just how far I should I should diverge from the original, I guess I'll try running with it a bit more. Thanks for the input. Quote
