Gamer Symphony Orchestra
It's that time of year again! The University of Maryland's Gamer Symphony Orchestra (GSO) will be holding our spring concert, which also happens to be our fifth anniversary! We've got plenty of surprises in store, so this concert is not the one to miss. For those who don't know, the GSO is an entirely student-run ensemble of more than 120 musicians, including a 40 piece chorus. We are the first collegiate level ensemble to draw our repertoire exclusively from the soundtracks of video games. The GSO seeks to establish video game music as a serious art form, as well as bring newer and younger audiences to orchestral performances. All of our music is arranged in-house, some of which can be heard here on OC Remix. The concert will be held on May 7th, 2011 at 3 p.m. in Dekelboum Hall, Clarice Smith Center at the University of Maryland, College Park campus. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. At our last concert, we literally overfilled the 1,170 seat concert hall, so be sure to get there early! In addition, joining us on stage will be guest performer and video game composer MARK CROMER of Big Huge Games! Also confirmed to be in attendance will be the composer of such classics as GoldenEye 007, Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, GRANT KIRKHOPE. Want more information or hear recordings of past concerts? Nonamer
Damn! I'm going back to Florida a day earlier. Otherwise I would show up in a heartbeat!
Gamer Symphony Orchestra
Aww. Maybe next time! We also hold a fall concert in early December, so maybe you'll get the chance to come see how amazing we are then. The recordings from this coming up concert will be posted on our website shortly into summer, so be sure to keep your eyes open for that! Gamer Symphony Orchestra
Yep! It takes a little while to get the recordings up, but we will eventually have them on our website: http://umd.gamersymphony.org. We also have recordings of past concerts up there now that you can take a listen to.
