Lastair
I wrote the music for a Touhou-like shooting game called "Call of the Underworld", by SCFWorks. For convenience, I've put the soundtrack up on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL341ADD62ACAEEE8D More info and downloads for the game: http://site.scfworks.com/?page_id=89 For those of you not necessarily wanting to listen to the whole thing, the tracks that I feel are strongest are probably 1, 5, and the last handful of character themes, with the soundtrack in general growing slightly stronger toward the end. The game itself is heavily influenced by Touhou, taking the form of basically a "boss rush" mode where you do bullet-hell battle with a progression of stronger and stronger enemies. This was essentially my first time writing an actual soundtrack, so in addition to slightly rough production I might have kind of over-thought things. To bring the whole thing together a bit I devised a simple "main theme" that I referenced in all the songs, sometimes quite subtly and sometimes not, and brought to a head in track 13. To be honest I feel this was almost more of an intellectual exercise than anything else, but I hope it had some kind of effect. For individual characters I tried to come up with some strong melodies (hard!) and instrumentation to (almost naively) match the character's story and personality. Anyway, I'd appreciate any kinds of comments.
Magnetic Ether
Unfortunately my computer won't run the game, but I took a listen to a few of the tracks, and they're quite nice. They do sound quite a bit like ZUNS music too. Good job
