Calum Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 A jazz/bossa number for an iphone game inspired by the sims - sounds a lot like 'cantaloupe island' Hope you enjoy http://soundcloud.com/calumbowen/duties-of-the-white-house p.s. - it's a loop so it stops suddenly. Quote
AngelCityOutlaw Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Great song! Really, I'm having trouble thinking of anything in the composition itself that I don't like...but If I had one complaint, it would be the metronome type sound. I know you said it isn't, but it sure sounds like one because of how it clicks EVERY beat. I think it would benefit from changing up that click sound's rhythm. For musicians, it probably wouldn't, but I imagine for a player the game could actually get a bit annoying if they had to be on that screen/level for too long. Quote
Dissidia Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 If anything, the metronome is too present (loud and frequencies stand out). It's a cool song otherwise . Quote
Calum Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 These are all fair comments - it was one of the first things i did on the piece and i guess i got a little complacent. The way i imagined it was sort of like the drum beat from cantaloupe island which has a snare click on every beat. Dissidia - you're right it is very present in terms of freq+vol so i could back it a little more background and it could also do with a little more rhythmic interest. Thanks guys. Quote
