PROTO·DOME
Got a live mixing thing as part of uni next week, need to visualise from Ableton Live, so from my soundcard, any experience or recommendations? VST might be a cool option. Tried Milkdrop, no good, line in only. Alternatively any REALLY PRETTY spectrograms/oscilloscopes?

Ivan Hakštok
It's possible with Winamp's AVS but the process is a bit complicated (I'll assume you have Winamp already. If not, download it ) 1. Download Nullsoft SHOUTCast Source DSP Plugin (http://www.brothersoft.com/shoutcast-dsp-plug-in-for-winamp-123793.html), and install it. 2. Open Winamp, go to Preferences (ctrl+P), then Plug-ins, DSP/Effect and select the SHOUTCast Source DSP. It should automatically open a new window with some parameters. 3. Set input device to "Line In (Legacy Mode)". Some options should be available in the bottom section of the window now. 4. In the bottom section, set capture device to "Line In (Legacy Mode)", click on "Open Mixer" and select "Stereo Mix" for recording. 5. Close that window and the preferences one, and run Winamp's AVS visualization. 6. Click "Add" -> "Add URL", and type "linein://" in the box. Hit play and Winamp should now visualize everything that goes through your soundcard.
