Any free 3 band multiband compressors?

Recommended Posts

I dont use these things often. but I would like to know if there are any 3 multiband compressors for free that I could use lightly on some old tracks that sound weird and no access to the original track. I googled and all I got where youtube videos and tutorial pages.

Before bying MAXIMUS, I was using T-Sledge. It's free and well made.VST. Give it a try.

I've used T-Sledge on couple of mixes and it does the job pretty well, but I kinda don't like the interface and the fact it lacks those dB marks on the volume meters.

The one I use the most right now is reaXcomp, a 4-band multiband compressor that comes with reaper. It's included in this free bundle: http://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/

Another one I found only recently is Broadcast by Jeroen Breebaart: http://www.jeroenbreebaart.com/

I haven't used it much yet, but it looks fairly simple, and I was intrigued by those "side" and "amb" sliders.

I was about to mention Broadcast, but I see you found it first.

Of course, it's in a bundle of other plugins which I haven't tested yet.

As of how the Broadcast Multiband Compressor performs, it does a pretty decent job across all three bands, and it really brings out a mix. However, I noticed yesterday that when applied to my drum track it added a latency of a few milliseconds, just enough to make the drums sound like they were on the back of the beat, instead of the front

I'm kind of surprised that Terry West didn't make a multiband compressor yet...
