Wiesty & XPRTNovice--Variations de Chocobo

Hey everyone!

Here is a track that has been in the works for quite a while now. This was produced as a bonus track for the FF7 Web Series me and Joe were working on in the Summer/Fall that fell apart. I wanted to do a chocobo track but was confronted with the problem that Nobuo has already remixed the track about a billion times himself, so what do you do?!

I decided to do a theme and variations type piece. It was originally written for string quartet, but I decided to get XPRTNovice in on it and arrange it for Saxophone quartet. Here is a nearly complete WIP!

Haha this is pretty cool, you can't go wrong with XPRT!

I feel that the volumes are all over the place though, you should use more compression because there are tons of volume jumps in many sections and they are a bit distracting. I also feel everything is slightly dry, so you could add reverb/delay.

The 3rd arrangement is really good by the way, very interesting interpretation of the source!

Yeah Joe is the guy I throw stuff at when I want it to sound good. We haven't done anything basically with the production. We still need to touch up some spots here and there in the recordings and mix it and we'll be good to go. Glad you like the arranging! This is the only chocobo piece I'll ever have to write.

Of course, but why shouldn't they be seamless? Unless they're following a Classical era standpoint, there should be transitions.

Its following sort of a classical era layout. Pretty typical even in contemporary chamber pieces when its multi movement. It's also typical in theme/variation pieces.

Alright then. It's contextual anyways. Regardless, this is turning out very promising.

Thank you! Compositionally (is that a word? w/e) its basically complete, a few little things here and there that have not been added yet as well as some fixes.

Yeah, it did kind of feel a little empty at times, but I'm sure you'll fill it out when it's done.
