GSO Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 does anybody on ocremix(besides andrew aversa) know how to code/make sample libraries in Kontakt? because I have an Idea for a sample library. Quote
Nabeel Ansari Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I do, but I work for him so maybe that's not what you were looking for? I don't think there any other Kontakt developers on OCR. Go here instead: http://vi-control.net/community/forums/kontakt-sampling-programming-scripting.65/ You can post there and scriptors will answer. Quote
dannthr Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Mike Novy's KSP book is a pretty good (and the only published) resource on Kontakt scripting: http://www.amazon.com/KSP-Scripting-1-Mike-Novy/dp/3839150515/ I find it a pretty handy resource when I'm trying to say set up custom instruments. Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Any way to check that book out and find if it's useful to me without having to spend $50.00 on it? I don't drop that kind of money on text without making sure it lives up to its hype first. Quote
Nabeel Ansari Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 If you're interested in learning scripting, you can also read this: http://www.nilsliberg.se/ksp/scripts/tutorial/ Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I've got that bookmarked, but I haven't had time to do more than that with it. Quote

Nabeel Ansari Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Again, you could take advantage of free public resources (VI-Control forum and the Nils KSP guide) that I showed you. Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 You don't need to repeat yourself, we can simply scroll up and read it again if need be. That KSP guide looks like a starter guide (I'm not an expert on scripting so I don't really know for sure) and forums only give you bits and pieces to put together. Still needs a strong core in there, which is presumably the book. Quote
dannthr Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 The book is separated into three parts: First, an introduction to KSP--assuming no background in programming--and walking you through the various types of Kontakt instrument interactions you create in the script. Second, example applications which read like case-studies/code examples. Third, script vocabulary reference (basically an A-Z of script commands, variables, etc.). It's a small book--about 6" tall--so at first, I was kind of annoyed at the price, but it's hundreds of pages long, and it makes up for its small form by being a substantial reference manual. Quote
