Some of the instrument choices for this reminded me of Grant Kirkhope's work, so not something I'd expect from Dark Souls at all! Still, the choir and strings keep it somewhat dark and epic. Great piece!

This gives me LotR vibes, which means that the orchestration must be doing the intended thing. There is an exposed low instrument early on that I didn't particularly like the timbre of, but it's forgivable, and the low brass feels somewhat restrained at times... it reminds me of Kirkhope on a N64 so unfortunately for me it has a bit of a comic edge to it due to that association. The (presumably-synthetic) choir does lend a lot of strength to it, though. It's still a very well done mix, though.

This song brought me back to my point and click adventure games of the 80's and 90's. Evocative, whimsical, and emotionally gripping once it has fully grasped your attention. Would love to hear more DS3 songs done in this style and aesthetic!
