Atomicfog Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) I figured I'd make a topic on this since I used to a lot of lofi hiphop for long time, especially for kicking back and relaxing and such, and then I kind of didn't even think to listen to is for a few years, and now I got back into it with a really good track I discovered recently (Flitz&Suppe - Funkaholic.) And I also realized that a lot of it might be easy to not remember, or kind of just chill background, sometimes there are some that really just resonate with you quite a lot that are very memorable, and that's what I'm looking for here, and just curious who else is into the genre. Honestly, I don't know a lot about the history aside from some artists in the 90s, some I do and don't recognize are said to have brought it to where it is today, and that Samurai Champloo (Nujabes, and fat jon) had a big influence on the genre as well. I actually remember watching Samurai Champloo back when I used to post here a lot in the early 2000s, and that vibe felt so modern and was definitely special. And I know a lot of people here were into it back then as well. That said, I mainly bring this up since I'm also down to hear if anyone has any insights on its history. I could go look into it a lot more, but I'd rather just hear some different perspectives if anyone wants to share. Anyhow, before that's tl;dr feel free to share some lo-fi hip hop gems either way. I'll post a few of my absolute favorites: and then there's these two lo-fi remix albums I have to imagine some people here must of heard of, but yeah they're so good. Here's the first album, I think Hateno Village is my favorite song from that, one, it just really stand out and I've listened to that first album so many times, and from the second album I really like The Legendary Hero a lot.
