prophetik music
i've got a 75$ gift card for a mall in my area, and the only computer-related store in the mall is Radio Shack. Radio Shack only sells external drives in store, therefore if i want an internal drive i've gotta buy an external drive and convert it into an internal one. that said, is this a possiblity? there isn't much on the net to tell me yea or nay. that said, could i put a different hard drive (which i already own) in said case, once i took out the other one? Schwaltzvald
From my experience I was able to convert a (then maxtor) external hard drive by voiding my warranty and taking out the hard drive. Had some spare pata cable and gave it away to a friend who needed an internal one badly. That said... I think you can... But spend the gift card on something better... http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010150014+4026&name=%2450+-+%2475 that's a newegg listing for hard drives at $75 and below; check it out. While you won't be able to use ur gift card on it at least u can get a much better deal there than at radioshack...
Pyrion
Alternatively you could just route the cable into your case and stick the drive in there somewhere, and you now have an "internal" drive. Ultimately, external vs internal doesn't really matter all that much. I leave my external WD Scorpio 120GB drive on all the time and use it as a scratch disk with no problems whatsoever. prophetik music
my big issue is that i need 500 gigs, and the stuff at radioshack is 80$ more expensive than newegg for the same thing. i might just go for newegg anyways, i've really liked their prices on oem barracudas and caviars...120$ or so total.
