  1. ❄️The frosty sound and panning make this track a keeper for me. No idea what the vocal is from (surprised it's not Jump! Slide! or something), but I think it meshes well with the remix's chill energy. ❄️
  2. Still a solid track that hangs out in my playlist. Another great remix from Scott Peeples, and after the fantastic Mysterious Groove which I still listen to regularly as well. Atmosphere and beats on point, love that 🎹
  3. Wow, looking back at these comments this track got some hate! I definitely like this track though, and continue to keep it on my playlist. While some "more in the know" may not think it's the most technically proficient remix (even for the early 2000s), for me the different aspects of this track bring together a solid fusion of 8-bit and electronic music. I'll admit, like DJP said it did take more than one listen through before the song clicked for me (it was a bit too busy for me initially). After that though, I've enjoyed this monster-hunting groove every time it's on. 👍🗡️🪓🏰🧛‍♂️👍
  4. This track goes from 0 to funky instantly. I do agree that the frequencies dabble a bit high at times, but those occasions don't bring the track down. It was a solid effort when DJP was testing his new equipment back in the day, this remix still holds up on my playlist. 👍
  5. Great source, and this remix is still a keeper. Weird, atmospheric, it's all been said before about this beauty from Mazedude. Don't take your whale to the moon without this.
  6. A nice and airy remix that has held up on my playlist. The first minute seems like it's going to go in a more energetic direction, but then the song settles into a nice ocean current that carries through the rest of the piece. 🌊🫧🫧🫧
  7. Ha, two remixes of this source within months of each other...and nothing since. I really enjoy Mazedude's take, and wRenchpilot's also holds up on my playlist (and then some!). Each bring their own unique style, and this one counters the former's slower groove with its own energetic quirkiness (plus I dig the croak!). There's definitely room for two badass Area 4 remixes in this world, we'll see if another challenger ever rises up out of the swamp.
  8. From beginning to end, rock-solid remix that's still just as good today (IMO). Love the energy, the atmosphere this song brings. Makes me want to dive back into the game. Classic!!
  9. A fun funky track that still holds up on my playlist. Infectious, although I admit I'm not a fan of the last 15 seconds before it ends. Doesn't ruin the song though, I'm a fan 👍
  10. Not the flashiest mix, but it's still holding up on my playlist. I like the flute intro, and I think it brings in other elements appropriately. The quality of the remix might be a bit dated at this point, and it does end a little too soon, but I still like its atmosphere. Very nice combo with the name, flute and guitar.
  11. It took a few listens for this remix to win me over, but since then has held up on my playlist. I could easily see this being used as a replacement for the source if the game were remade. The intro's solid build-up had me thinking the mix's energy was going in one direction, but the artist's use of a deeper subtle intensity (IMO) was a good match for the hero's vulnerabilities and struggles he was about to undertake. I'll bet this 2001 track will continue to find fans. 👍👍
  12. I wasn't sure about it at first, as I'm not a huge techno fan. However, this mix quickly grew on me and still remains in my playlist. I really like the buildup of the song's atmosphere, as has been previously mentioned in other posts, and I also think the technical presentation is pretty damn solid for 2001. Hoping that part 4 (sequel to the OG part 3) gets made some day.
  13. Another good remix from MkVaff that holds up on my playlist. I feel the "intro" takes a little too long (50 seconds) though, and I agree that the ending is wayyy too abrupt (even with MkVaff's style). Still a keeper!
  14. Scott P does it again. I really enjoyed his other Link's Awakening remix, very different, but lovely work here as well that still holds up on my playlist. 😎 Big yes to the funk
  15. Yesssss. Great NES adventure game for its time. Unique setting (if you couldn't tell from the title), creative and interesting game play (again, for its time). As for the remix, the quirkiness definitely matches the source. As with the game, it may not appeal to everyone, but count me as a fan that still appreciates this mix when it comes up on the playlist.
