  1. You are a gentleman and a scholar, as is the random guest that pm'd me a link as well. My hat's off to both you guys. Thanks!
  2. Would anyone happen to have Analog Velocity by Rellik? Heaven knows I've searched the internet high and low for it. It was on VGMix2 back in the day, but it seems to have all but disappeared.
  3. This is great! But then, "Searching For Friends" is my favorite game track ever, and it's been years since it got any coverage here, so I'm biased. Seriously though, I absolutely love it. I always like arrangements that play things a little more straight, so this is right up my alley. The drum loop, which seems to be the most contentious part, was just fine in my book.
  4. I just wanted to say this is one of my favorite arrangements to be posted on this site in a really long time. Absolutely phenomenal!
  5. Necro'd! Time goes by, things change, one thing remains the same: I still can't find this song. Not that I'm constantly looking, mind you, but still, I would think (hope) it would pop up somewhere eventually. Still can find no reliable way to contact either the remixer himself or the vgmix guys, either. It's a little disheartening. Anyone out there? At all?
  6. It used to be on ye olde VGMix before it crashed, but I've searched the bowels of the internet and I can't find it. It's an arrangement of Final Fantasy Legend 2's overworld music. I pmed the man himself awhile back, but it doesn't look like he comes here all that often. Can anyone hook a brother up?
  7. I don't know what I can add, but this mix is great for the most part. Some of the more abstract sequences in between the more conservitive coverage bore me a little, but I've always enjoyed a straighter cover to a song then a really abstract mix. The Hydrocity Zone is indeed one of my favorite game tunes of all time, and this is some excellent and much-needed coverage of it. A big thumbs up. 8/10
  8. Castlevania, eh? This one's a winner here folks. A great take on 'Vampire Killer,' a tune that's been a favorite of mine since I heard the Minibosses rendition a couple years back. Really my only beef with the song is the bit that comes in at 2:06. It just seems out of place with the rest of the tune. I'm sure it's intentional, but it's just not my thing. I love the way it starts, though. Especially the footsteps. What a great addition! Some pretty heavy ReArrangement here. What's really noticably there is there, but overall very good. The darkwave sound is used almost perfectly, and the main tune belted out in piano (something I absolutely aprrove of). The organ part in the middle is also quite excellent. And of course, the whip sound effect is just the icing on the cake. In the end, we got an excellent and unique Castlevania tune. Nice change of pace from all the metal (which I like too, don't get me wrong.) Score: 9/10
  9. F-Zero tunes need more ReMixing... This is a perfect example of why. Sure, it's nigh a minute and a half until the actual song gets started, but I think the intro is just plain awesome all the way through. It's actually after the actual tune gets started that I like the song less (but only just a very, very little bit). The irony. Someone made a eariler statement that the song is a tad on the painful side if you got some headphones on and the volume cranked up. I can agree with that sentiment. I like this one loud, though. I can't help it. Another favorite of mine, this is just an excellent mix that gets the adrenilene going, and the intro is a perfect build up. Score: 8/10
  10. This ReMix seems to have gotten it's share of reviewage... oh well, I'll throw my kindling on the fire to keep it burning! This is the first thing that I downloaded on the site, and it didn't disappoint. Really, there's nothing to complain about on this one. Right length, nothing gets old, and all that. What stands out? Quite obviously the lyrics. Wonderfully crafted, written, applied to the song, and sung. Expect for the bridge and after the final verse, I really don't see much ReArrangement from the original tune. That's not a complaint; I very much approve. I really dig the piano at the end. There's really not much else to say. This remix rocks. Rest assured it's not everyone's thing, though. Score: 10/10
  11. I love Star Control II's hyperspace music... Since I'm still new to this reviewing business, I'm not sure what genre this goes in. I do know that it does under a classification of 'good.' (Man that was cheesy). Honestly, there's nothing particularly bad that stands out in the Mix. If I had to say anything, it feels a tad on the repetitive side. Some of the sounds feel a tad over used as well. Personally, this might have been better off with thirty seconds or a minute shaved off. Then again, that might have ruined it. As far as ReArrangement is concerned, I think it does a fairly good job. I agree with Mark that some of the original tune should be kept in place. With the nature and general sound of the song, I think it could easily be lost in elaborate rearrangement. Then again, I might not have any clue what I'm talking about. Wow, both of my paragraphs for this end with 'then agains.' Not the best way to end it. I just don't want to come off as some high and mighty music critic. I'm not. I'd like to think I have a good ear for arrangement, though. Overall, this is a pretty good piece. Let's hope for more Star Control II mixes in the future. Score: 7/10
  12. Oh my... This is, quite frankly, my favorite song on the entire site thus far. kLuTz puts together the most stirring arrangement of this song I've ever heard. Now being a nut for piano solos, my opinion is honestly quite biased. The three times played through have wonderful variation on the main theme, the first one being fairly conservative to the original arrangement, the second one taking the tempo up a notch, and the third one just going all out. Honestly, I want to say more, but I just can't. Hearing a real piano arrangement of this is something I'd been waiting years to hear, and I finally got it. kLuTz has been blessed with wonderful piano skills. Score: 10/10
  13. Hello everyone. This is my first time posting here at OC Remix. I've been downloading stuff from here for a few months now, and decided to sign up to the forums (obviously.) Bland introduction out of the way, let's get to the review. I'll refrain from being wordy... Like most others, I was really expecting a Metropolis Zone remix. Fortunately, what I got was something far, far better. Although I may look at it differently a couple months down the road, I can easily see this as becoming one of my all time favorites ReMixes. First, the bad (of which there is very, very little) The beginning sound effect is, honestly, way, too loud. I like to pump this ReMix loud. With headphones. And that sound effect can be painful on the ears. And the sound quality isn't that great, either. Others have pointed out that the drums are too loud. I personally do not mind it much. At a couple points they get in the way, but only a little. overall they're fine, though. And finally, the end sound effects at the end. Not really a complaint, but the sounds just aren't very good quality and I really don't see them contributing much to the song. Now, the good. Let's talk the Hydrocity Zone theme! I'd forgotten just how much I loved this tune. Seriously. I went nuts when I realized what I was hearing. I think I can safely say it's one of my favorite game tunes ever. This remix makes it as good, if not better. The Metropolis Zone theme. Sure, it's really quite secondary in the Mix, but for a tune that I havn't heard the original to in like literally years, I was able to point it out very easily, as catchy as ever. Arrangement. I havn't really heard much of either tune in years, honestly, but I can't really hear much variation from the original. This may be a turnoff for some, but it's definately not for me. Not in this case. A good, straight arrangement is sometimes the best. Sound quality. What's there to say? Certainly there's been better, but top-notch, 'realistic' sound quality doesn't neccessarily mean a good Mix, and I think that a pretty blastedly good job was done on this one, really. Kudos. In the end, the good definately outweighs the bad here. By a long shot. This is a remix that's just awesome to pump up loud into some headphones, particularly the Hydrocity Zone music from :38 to 1:06 and 2:05 to 2:33. Score: 9/10.
