  1. ALSO, Sir_NutS has a demo of the track that is on the project chaos TEASER site. The song was never finished and he lost the source. I have the track but cant exactly release it to anyone, its not mine to share, and i know he didnt want it public a long time ago...so yeah....you will have to ask him about it

Oh and I listened to that one too. It was good. Though I thought it might of been the mystery remix that is of trance genre. Usually that's Sir Nut's department.

Still wondering who composed the remix at 0:06 on this video:

  2. BTW, the final boss in Spiritual Warfare has to be pretty close to the top of my "Most Annoying Boss Battles In Gaming History" list... it's not hard at all, it's just painfully time-consuming and requires your character to have more agility than the Nintendo system offered.

Don't know about Nintendo. But I played that game on PC as a kid. All I did was shoot apples through the rock and it worked like a charm.

I'm surprised on this thread, no one has mentioned the only other Christian game: "Captain Bible." It was sort of an action RPG quest thing.

Video game giants in $18bn merger

    By Rory Cellan-Jones

    Technology correspondent, BBC News

    Warcraft

World of Warcraft is played by more than nine million people

The companies behind Call of Duty and World of Warcraft are merging in a deal which could shake up the global video games industry.

Activision and Blizzard have said they will form "the world's most profitable games business" in a deal worth $18.8bn (£9.15bn).

US-based Activision also makes hit console games such as the Tony Hawk series and Guitar Hero.

Nine million people pay a monthly subscription to play World of Warcraft.

    'High-growth industry'

Blizzard is the biggest player in online gaming and Warcraft is the global market leader of what are known as massively multi-player online role-playing games, or MMORPGs.

It is currently owned by the French media group Vivendi.

As part of the merger plan, Blizzard will invest $2bn in the new company, while Activision is putting up $1bn.

The merged business will be called Activision Blizzard and its chief executive will be Activision's current CEO Bobby Kotick. Vivendi will be the biggest shareholder in the group.

Jean-Bernard Levy, Vivendi chief executive, said: "This alliance is a major strategic step for Vivendi and is another illustration of our drive to extend our presence in the entertainment sector.

"By combining Vivendi's games business with Activision, we are creating a worldwide leader in a high-growth industry."

    Different strengths

The two firms are hoping that their different strengths will combine to form a business which is powerful on every gaming platform and in every territory.

Blizzard is strong in Asia, where its Starcraft series has proved hugely popular.

Starcraft, a strategy game first released in 1998, is played by millions of South Koreans in gaming cyber-cafes, and by professional gamers on television.

Activision has developed a presence on all three new generation game consoles - Microsoft's Xbox 360, Sony's PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii - with franchises such as Spider-Man and X-Men.

The games software industry has been through turbulent years, with companies changing ownership and going in and out of business in rapid succession.

Activision was formed in 1979 and went through bankruptcy and a series of alliances and mergers before becoming successful.

Blizzard had been through a number of owners before ending up in the hands of Vivendi in 1998.

    Official response from Blizzard:

We're pleased to announce that along with the other companies that make up Vivendi Games, we are merging with Activision to form a new global entertainment organization called Activision Blizzard (pending shareholder and regulatory approval). Similar to our previous arrangement, Blizzard Entertainment will now operate as a division of this new organization.

There will be no changes to our games, our websites, our personnel, or our day-to-day operations as a result of the deal. However, this combining of resources will benefit all of the companies involved and will further strengthen Blizzard's ability to continue delivering high-quality content for our players around the world for many years to come. To learn more about this exciting new development, please read our Activision Blizzard FAQ:

    ...

Q: What are the details of the deal?

A: Under the terms of an agreement with Vivendi, Blizzard and the other companies that make up Vivendi Games will combine with Activision to form a new public company called Activision Blizzard. We do not anticipate any difference in Blizzard’s operations as a result of the combination. Joining forces with Activision will create a stronger and more diversified company that we anticipate will benefit and strengthen both brands.

Q: What will happen to the Blizzard brand name?

A: The Blizzard brand name will stay the same as it’s always been: Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.

Q: What will change with regard to the day-to-day operations at Blizzard?

A: There will be no changes in the way Blizzard operates. All of the people, processes, and philosophies that have made Blizzard so successful will be preserved. Blizzard will benefit from all-star sales and distribution teams to service our products. In addition, the combined company will be stronger financially, managerially, and operationally.

Q: How will this impact Blizzard’s games?

A: This will not impact Blizzard’s games. We remain committed to providing the same high-quality game content and support that we always have. Development on Wrath of the Lich King and StarCraft II, as well as on our unannounced games, is continuing as normal.

Q: Will there be any visible differences in Blizzard’s logo or packaging/marketing materials as a result of this deal?

A: No, there won’t be any changes to our company name, logo, packaging/marketing materials, or anything else along those lines.

Q: Will there be any management changes at Blizzard as a result of this deal?

A: No, there won’t be any management changes at Blizzard as a result of the combination.

Q: Will Activision and Blizzard now share development teams?

A: No, both of our companies will continue to operate as they have previously with regard to game development.

Q: Will the release schedules for any Blizzard games be impacted?

A: No, the transaction will not have any impact on our games, our day-to-day operations, or our release timelines.

Q: Will any of Blizzard’s offices close as a result of the deal? Or, will any new offices open?

A: No, all of our offices will continue to function as they have, and we don’t foresee the need to open any new offices for the time being.

Q: Will any employees move to different offices as a result of the deal?

A: We don’t anticipate making any such moves as a result of the deal.

Q: Does this deal include Activision’s and Blizzard’s international offices?

A: Yes, every part of our companies in the U.S. and abroad is involved in this deal.

Q: If Activision Blizzard is a public company, does that mean I’ll now be able to buy stock in Blizzard?

A: Activision will be renamed Activision Blizzard, Inc and will continue to be a publicly listed company traded on NASDAQ. You will be able to buy stock in the combined company.

Q: When will the transaction be complete?

A: The transaction is subject to approval of Activision shareholders, customary closing conditions, and regulatory approvals. Pending approval, the companies expect the transaction to be completed by mid 2008.

    Discuss.

  4. I currently have a (far fair) few remixes of this one awesome track. But I know there is more out there. At least there should be.

I rank this track as high (or even higher) than ice cap. It has the potential to being remixed into a progressive adventure/action/rock track. Giving the punch and impact it deserves.

(The first 45 seconds of this video gives a perfect example by how I mean it gives a progressive feel; like as if you were climbing/racing to the top of a mountain.)

(Here's another example of my own using "Dark Egg - A Robotnik Remix.")

(Example number 2 of what I was hoping to achieve using "Machine Gun Hedghog.")

    http://www.soahcity.com/music/1994_sonic_the_hedgehog3_and_knuckles/52-act_2_boss.zip

(The actual mp3 version of the track from a legit site if any one needs it)

Current ones I have found and kept in no particular order:

    1. BrainCells, SnappleMan - "Scrambled Eggman." (Starts off good with the evil laugh and rock. But as the song progresses pass 1:10: It is a little off tune and regresses in build up.)

    2. Hadyn Lander - "Nu-rock Robotnik." (Sounds like an army of robots/mechanized units marching en mass onto a battlefield. No complaints other than I've listened to it to death.)

    3. Kevin Lorenzo - "Machine Gun Hedgehog." (Was actually submitted to OCRemix and rejected. It was the first electronic rock remix of this boss track. Sounds a little dated, but still awesome.)

    4. Shariq Ansari (a.k.a. our very own Darkesword.) - "Dark Egg - A Robotnik Remix." (Found this one just yesterday on my search for remixes of this track and came across Darkesword's site - along with some other nice tracks there - The song starting off slow and soft, building up slowly, getting faster. It heads in the right direction with the sharp build up. Showing the potential this track has of being remixed into some thing great.)

    -

Now for the reason of this thread. Does any one know where some remixes of this track are? I've heard a trance remix that I cannot find and probably suspect there are more out there.

Also if any one would like to take a crack at remixing this track, I encourage you greatly to do so. There are way fewer remixes of this track than I'd like and it deserves more.

  5. As part of the EA deal, I'll give you my two cents.

You know what bothers me MOST about the deal? That nobody fucking CARES that we're (Pandemic) are even involved in the deal. Nothing crushes morale when you're part of a $800+ million dollar deal (the biggest in industry history) and you are less than a footnote in the great shitstorm of internet reprisal.

Because we all know and love BioWare. We don't know who or what Pandemic is...

...Well, I know they developed the awesome game Star Wars Battle Front II. But that's about it. They're not really as famous as BioWare.

    Sorry. :(

Leaders in RPG, Action and Adventure Genres; Ten Franchises in Development - Six Wholly Owned

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced an agreement with Elevation Partners to acquire VG Holding Corp. -- the owner of both BioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios. This acquisition gives EA a strong competitive position in key genres in interactive entertainment: action, adventure and role-playing games. The two studios have been recognized for creating some of the highest-quality games in the industry.

BioWare Corp. and Pandemic Studios have ten franchises under development, including six wholly owned games. BioWare Corp. is currently developing the highly anticipated Mass Effect, which will be published by Microsoft in November, and is in the early development stages of a massively multiplayer online game. Pandemic Studios is redefining open-world games with its upcoming Mercenaries 2: World in Flames™ and Saboteur™, in addition to several unannounced projects.

Pandemic Studios and BioWare Corp. employ roughly 800 people across four studios located in Edmonton, Canada; Los Angeles; Austin; and Brisbane, Australia.

“These are two of the most respected studios in the industry and I’m glad to be working with them again. They’ll make a strong contribution to our strategic growth initiatives on quality, online gaming and developing new intellectual properties,” said John Riccitiello, EA’s Chief Executive Officer. “We also expect this will drive long-term value for our shareholders.”

Pandemic Studios is led by Andrew Goldman, Josh Resnick and Greg Borrud. BioWare Corp. is jointly led by Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka. These teams will join the EA™ Games Label run by Frank Gibeau, President of EA Games.

“Pandemic Studios remains focused on attracting the best talent and creating blockbuster action games,” said Josh Resnick, President and Co-founder of Pandemic Studios. “As a worldwide publishing leader, EA represents the ideal partner to bring our titles to market as global entertainment events.”

“We are truly excited by John Riccitiello’s new vision for EA,” said Ray Muzyka, Co-founder and CEO of BioWare Corp. “This vision is consistent with BioWare’s focus on crafting the highest quality story-driven games in the world. It will enable us to further the careers of the passionate, creative and hard working teams at BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Austin.”

EA will pay up to $620 million in cash to the stockholders of VG Holding Corp. and will issue up to an additional $155 million in equity to certain employees of VG Holding Corp., which will be subject to time-based or performance-based vesting criteria. EA will also assume outstanding VG Holding Corp. stock options. In addition, EA has agreed to lend VG Holding Corp. up to $35 million through the closing of the acquisition.

Yet another company bought out to fuel the mass production gaming giant.

  7. I think were Halo 3 shines was the score.

Were we playing the same game? I thought with the exception of the title track, all the other tracks in the game were ones reused from the previous Halo games with no modification.
