How about you two collabing on it? That would be sweet ^.^
-
No problem, but please don't miss the next deadline which will be December 12th!
-
Today is the WIP deadline. There are still some people who haven't written back, I will try to contact them personally in a few days :/ Let's hope not too many people will jump off this one... Anyway, a lot of WIPs have made it in the last weeks. Things are looking great now, a lot of progress has been made on this project. I want to thank all of you who contributed in the past weeks!
-
We all seem to have lots of tests these weeks...it's the same for me, and for many others... but nevertheless we got a lot of finished songs and new WIPs these days
-
Yay!! Sixto is so damn cool!
-
Finished my mix. So anyone here kindly shut their face and get going with the rest of the songs Thanks again Kyle for this more than just great project, I can't wait for the release ^-^
-
New WIP posted at the SoS forums, final version will be there pretty soon. Sorry for being late... :/
-
OK, BIG announcement! We got ALL new forums and a website will be built soon. You can find both at http://sd3.thasauce.net. Many thanks to ThaSauce for hosting us! It's greatly appreciated! Note to all musicians of this project: Please sign up there for the forums and we will take care of the rest. Some of you need to re-upload their WIPs. We plan to do a WIP upload script there soon, so stay tuned Let's get this thing rollin' again!!!

Well, in former days it was usual, no one asked if it was wrong or right, children helped their parents to do the work, for example at a farm It's just our nowadays society that seems to be so picky about it... Oh, and btw. site and forums will be up pretty soon, yeah. Thanks fly out to Fusion and ThaSauce! YAY! ^.^

Newsflash: The next WIP deadline will be 12th of October, no matter if we got a new server by then or not. You can contact me in the IM program of your choice if you want to send a WIP my way. But I am pretty sure the server thing gets resolved by then so there will be a new forum and stuff. Just stay tuned, I will inform you on our progress. Oh, and Prometheus, thanks for your WIP, I already heard it, but didn't want to comment on it right here. So IM or a new forum are my preferred method

OK, I got news from Zak who was away for two weeks. The whole VGMpulse site got hacked, and the forum, as well. In addition, Zak reported he received hate mail originating from a spoofed address with contents similar to the following: "u don dezerv to make muzic! ROFLMAO" "seidenkentsaetsu 3 is too l33t for ya to manage" "lolz low security like vgmix" Really, how low can people go? Well, now we are looking for an alternate and secure hosting/forum solution. Of course we are not giving up or anything. So anyone with a suggestion please IM me, OK?

Hosting them all on our FTP is not necessary. It is just thought as a "last resort" opportunity to post your song if you don't have any webspace. Normally you can put it everywhere you like and just post the link in the internal WIP forums. Oh, and btw. I talked to Zak today and he said that the hacker attack was not aimed for the project site, but rather another site on the same server. So, there are no jealous FF7 people (at least not that I know of) and the server has been upgraded to a more secure software, so you can still upload your stuff to the FTP and it is secure. Don't panic

Damn, they struck again? Why does this happen so often? This is already the third time this happened. I really have to talk to someone here.... Great news for my first day I am back from vacation, huh?
-
OK, I signed you two up for the songs. There are not really any style restrictions, but the original should be somehow recognizable from your mixes. Have fun!
-
Yeah, of course - should I sign you up for it?
-
Yeah, the forums and the whole vgmpulse site seems to be down right now. Since I am on vacation right now there is not much I can do/say. :/ I will try to contact Zak about this issue ASAP, but I can't promise anything for now. If anyone of you has questions or wants to show me a new WIP you are of course welcome to send me mail to the address in my OCR profile. Oh yeah, and sorry for any inconvenience! EDIT: Forums are up and running again!

When bumpcount hits 12 I will make a new announcement, there are quite a few things going on or have changed. Nothing to worry about, though. I had a total hardware failure and just came over it so this is one of my first days I could go online again.

Hi there! Two weeks ago all hell broke loose here for me. My notebook overheated and crashed a lot, corrupting the RAM and later the hard drive. I was computer-less for a few weeks, and just came back to see I missed the final deadline for the songs. I really don't know what to say now, because I didn't have a chance to do anything about it, since the shop where I bought the RAM for my new keyboard seemed to have cheated me. They didnt respond to my fax, my e-mails, my eBay contact form post, my shop contact form post, and the telephone number does not exist. In addition now I lost my confirmation mails of that transaction because of the notebook crash. At least I got a replacement notebok right now and am setting it up again. But: All of my plugs have to be reinstalled, and lots of them are not Universal Binary (Intel compatible) yet, so they won't run on my new MacBook Pro. The only thing I could do right now is to re-mix and record the song "as is" with my new keyboard's internal sounds the best way I can do. I hope that would be enough. And sorry for all the trouble I might have caused.

Did you forget your password or is there an error? If there is any error just sign up with another username and tell me the new username.

What the hell? This was one of the latest WIPs posted in those vgmpulse forums. It was also the first version considering I took the track on half way through the last stage. I don't know whether you intended to write that but it is absolutely false. Whoops, now this must have slipped through without me noticing. Sorry about that, I instantly changed everything to its right state now. Sorry again, but sometimes things like these happen :/ Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww~ I thought you wanted to do it in that style of the piece I showed you from Super Metriod... but, to be honest, it sounds really great this way too, so don't worry *lol*

OK, BIG ANNOUNCEMENT HERE Well, the third WIP deadline is over! That means, I had to take some people out because they didn't show the smallest activity at all. Sorry about that, folks, you can reclaim your tracks as long as they are red. For the ones that didn't show activity over a longer time and haven't gotten far with their tracks, I colored them purple. Anyone can take them from now on. If you want to reclaim them, please get back to me and show your interest in these tracks. Further removals are pending, but look, we are still at 91% filled out and got a lot of great WIPs so far. Please go on and keep this rolling, we already are quite far! The next deadline will be announced soon-ish, too. It's time to get more of this finished, after this long period of seeming inactivity. To all of you who doubt this project is still alive - it is - just that people have been flooded with other projects and because of that had a lot of work on them, which kinda slowed progress on this one down. Nothing to worry about. It's done when it's done

Well, Seiken Densetsu 3 has a significantly different music style from Secret of Mana - it creates a totally different atmosphere. SD3 uses much more mellow sounds than SOM. I kinda like both of the games' OSTs, SD2/SOM because it has such nice and crisp samples which are seldom heard on the SNES, and SD3 for its very special and enchanting, storybook-like mood. Well, the SPC players I know mess the samples up a bit because they don't exactly emulate the soundchip. I have the original soundtracks on CD, and compared to the SPCs, it has a lot better and rounder sound, and more "rumble" in the bass department. Speaking of bass, SD3 has a lot of nice bass in its OST that makes it very special. In the SPC versions it is missing this nice sound a bit (because of the players), so I guess that could be one of the reasons for your disappointment. As for simplicity, that is kind of a question of different tastes. For me, I like both styles of music, simple and complex.

How about you getting there, too? Oh yeah, btw. half time for this month - only 6 days left until the deadline! Do your best, people, because after this deadline it WILL get serious!
-
Don't worry, you don't get booted, you have already shown a lot of progress on your songs, and if you miss this deadline it won't really hurt that much.... about the string samples, if you have your tracks in MIDI I might record something for you...

Ah, that is good news! I love collab tracks since this improves the quality of tracks most of the time! Four ears hear more than two ears, and if you work together you can join forces and everyone does what he/she can do best! Besides, on the next WIP due date (which will be in like 10 days) I will add specific status notes on all the BLACK tracks - so if you have a track that is currently listed black in the tracklisting in the first post of this topic, you should contact me/submit a WIP very soon if you don't want to be possibly removed from the project. It is OK not to work on your track and to keep me informed at the same time, but it is not OK to not inform me at all on your status. It's now a long time already since this started and slowly we all should get in shape and get this crackin' - yay! ^.^
