Besides, how can viking folk metal be traditional? It's a fairly recent genre
-
Oh yeah, it definitely does have Funky's Joint in it.
8D

Why would there be any rules against it?
Wasn't sure if there were underground rules (i.e. this was restricted to well-known members, etc.) but I guess none of that matters since I was never notified/updated in the first place.
It's cool though, less work on my part.

Happy birthday Palpable!
I'm currently listening to 'Us Monkeys Together' just for the occasion
-
I'd like to join if that's alright with you, Wes. Not sure if there's any rules or whatnot against that but I'll PM you my info if I'm in the clear

Ah.
so SNES Chase is off the board.
Well, Prophesy will do good with that, I'm sure.
EDIT:
HOLY CRAP!
THERE'S PINK ON THE BOARD!!!!
(YES!!!)
Don't get your hopes up; that's only temporary

This is awesome! Way to throw in those awesome DK64 references -- I smiled like crazy and parts of it even gave me goosebumps

Who recorded the gameplay footage?
Emunator recorded the footage for Dixie Beat, Crazy Calypso, Hot Pursuit and Pokey Pipes (SNES), while everything else was done by me. I tried to go out of my way to make sure each level's gameplay was unique enough to magnify the fact that all of DKC3's levels are about as diverse as you can get
As for Lightning Lookout, I definitely got really lucky. I normally do awful at that level but that clip in the preview was my first and only attempt. Stampede Sprint GBA, on the other hand, must've taken me well over 50 tries to beat it with both Kongs and Parry... granted, it was around 4 in the morning and Stampede Sprint looks really blurry on an emulator, but I still didn't expect it to take that long
I'm really glad you all are taking a liking to the preview, Emunator and I put a lot of hard work in it just for you guys!

Could you change my username to "Cody Wedel", please? I plan on being more active here in the near future and I'd rather use my actual name instead of one I'd made up out of the blue several years back.
Thanks a lot!

Whoa, way to stay true to the original. I'm thoroughly impressed on all levels.

I've clocked 767 plays on this remix in iTunes alone within the past week and words can't even express how much I appreciate the mere existence of it. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you, Nicole Adams, for significantly benefiting my week with this stunning masterpiece.

DKC3 GBA is my favorite game soundtrack ever so I am REALLY excited to see this. DKC3 is in my top 5 (the others being Mother 3, Banjo-Tooie and EarthBound).
I support this project significantly. Good luck

This is so far my favorite remix. It turned out exactly how I thought it would (no lie, ever since I heard it was a duet between Diddy and Dixie I made the track in my head... and it sounds nearly just like it).
A definite 10/10 to everyone who worked on this.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but the torrent stopped working for me and http://dkc2.ocremix.org/ can no longer be accessed.
I hope it's not just me

I'm going through a rather vicious breakup right now (edit: reason removed) and words could not express what I felt when I refreshed the page 3 minutes ago... holy shit, immediately downloading. This is really taking my mind off of that and making me feel happy all over again.
Thank you so much!

Glad to hear you have a set date. I hope it's before April, at least
-
No worries guys, it's gonna be hard but we all can wait (and this is coming from a huge DKC fan) - thanks for putting this project together in the first place! I'm pretty sure it'll be gold
-
Thanks for the information. It's gonna be hard, but we all can wait.

Thanks for the information, Emunator. In that case, I'm guessing the album is going to be released either later this month, or sometime in early 2010. I'm personally rooting for the former as I've been following this thread since it was made.
-
I'm not sure why, but the fact that this thread hasn't had a reply in 6 days really bothered me to the point of me logging in after 2 years of inactivity.
That being said, I'm reeeaaally looking forward to this album. I've heard nothing but good things, especially involving Nicole Adams' take on Hot Head Bop (really, a duet between Diddy and Dixie? That sounds incredible). And of course, I can't WAAAAIT for Dave Wise's remix of Donkey Kong Rescued (when I found out Dave, Robin AND Grant were working it, I was at a loss of words. I kinda still am).
I also haven't heard the preview and don't intend to. As much as I'd LOVE to, I'd rather everything be one big surprise to me.

If I were to remix a track from an obscure game, such as Taz-Mania for the SNES, if it ended up being good enough would it be possible to have it posted on the main website? Or does it have to be a remix of a generally known game to be considered?
Thanks!

Completed said survey.

There isn't much to say that hasn't been said in the Remix section of the website, but I approve of this remix deeply. The first 30 seconds or so felt very atmospheric, and the way it flows into the actual underwater theme is enough to make me replay this remix endlessly. One thing I love more than anything, however, is the way it seemingly emulates some of the original track's sounds to perfection. As said, this remix is very engaging and is one of my favorite Donkey Kong Country remixes.
Keep up the good work, Disco Dan. Hopefully you will produce more gaming remixes in the near future.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with this
