  1. I think I've asked before Brushfire, but when are you having the BBQ at your place?

I'm buying round trip-tickets and I need to know whether I'm looking at Jan. 4th in the PM, or the 5th in the AM/PM for return....

  2. Chives, I'd appreciate it if you stop whining about [lions] stacking. The team that was "[lions] stacked" tonight lost 4 of the 5 maps we played on. That isn't a coincidence. If the team I'm on is doing exceptionally well, I'm always the one to switch myself. You don't see many other regulars doing that. So no more please.

EDIT: And if you didn't already know, [lions] isn't a clan. We don't practice. We don't use a voice chat. Bonzai and I are a couple, and the other lions are all people we met online in the OCR server. They either elected to tag themselves, or became good friends with us.

  3. ...

I don't even know how to respond to this....

Darth robot at 0:50 in Tiny Robots though.

  4. Man, my selectee sucks.

What do you get for the d00d who so obviously has it all.

    Money, fame, girls, men.

    Damn d00d.

You forgot looks, charm, and a daunting manhood.

oh i forgot to mention, sending me sharp objects is not at all appropriate. (not sarcasm)

Are you ACTUALLY a hemophiliac? I think I've asked you this before...

  5. In an evenly matched game, both teams will often start making attempts to quickly push a few towers with 2-3 people after level 10-ish. The way this is usually done this early is to gank one or two heroes who are still farming in a lane and then quickly push the tower before the rest of the enemy team can respond. This will net your team a nice bonus in gold and it will force the enemy team to group up and play more defensively, to prevent more towers from falling, which in turn allows the rest of your team to freefarm lanes. If you're a carry-type hero you should still be farming as much as possible.

^ that's actually very helpful. I know it seems like it should be intuitive... but I didn't quite have everything in that perspective. I noticed that mid/late game I was barely farming at all, and I thought this just might be a late game mechanic. I thought the game had switched to team battles. But now that you mention it, at that point we had lost 2 towers, and they were probably still farming those lanes all the while. I can appreciate the significance of making a push a little more now.

Also, voted for zircons proposal. Despite having no right to vote on anything.

  6. Hm, that is weird. The replay pages are still WIP though, so some things might not be entirely accurate. Maybe you bought a recipe and it thought it was the entire thing? (You should never buy the recipe first btw. :P )

I think I bought the Glowstone. It appeared the most beneficial while separate. But I've been told I've bought the wrong thing first before, so i wouldn't be surprised.

    Things I learned today:

-Pings either mean "Go here" or "Get the F*** away from here" at the user's discretion.

-Using my Ult on their best player when they are at low health is fantastic. Unless that player can completely absorb my attack, regain full health because of me, and double-back to kill me and a teammate.

-I don't know what to do after lvl 10

-Going into the jungle, even with all my teammates, is a horrible idea.

    Excellent learning day.

  7. Yeah, we'll try for scrims again next week. I know quite a few people who won't be coming out tonight, and there's already a lack of interest in TF2 due to L4D2. I don't think we would have managed 12 players.

    SCRIMS

Anyone interested in scrimming NEXT monday Nov. 30th between 7-11PM EST let me know in this thread, on steam friends, or in IRC. You don't need to be there at 7, or stay the whole duration of course. Just let me know approximates!

  8. I can't believe these people managed to stack an entire team, but uh. . it happened:

    lolwut.png

Powerless to stop so many people like that without an actual admin considering they take up half the game, so votes don't do shit.

It was pretty obnoxious too, when I pointed out how ridiculous it was they stacked that much but weren't that coordinated, and then for about 30 minutes they would not stop saying TIGER and talking about Sagat. . .

They eventually left, but. . lol

    That was definitely something else.

That's pretty amazing. It's unfortunate that they were obnoxious.

Looks like the skill on each team was good. And I like their theme.

  9. Fun scrims tonight guys. CTF actually worked out somewhat. It's too bad most of the matches end up pretty one-sided, although we still manage to have fun, though.

Yeah, the only match that sustained serious back and forth tonight was Yukon. It's unfortunate how bad the team balance was, given how smoothly it ran previously. In future scrims, (maybe not next week because everyone will be L4D2ing) I hope to have a system that bypasses the ridiculous amount of time it takes to determine captains and teams, and hopefully keep steamrolls from happening. Clefairy has given me some good ideas on that.

Aside from that, great games everyone! :3

  10. Bonzai pointed out that I never made a Scrim post this week.... hope everyone can still make it without having been reminded sooner...

I'm tired and lazy, so I'm just going to copypasta:

OCR Scrims (IP 208.94.245.226:27060; password ocrscrim)

This monday Nov. 16th we'll be having scrims between 7-11PM EST. Any and every community member is welcome. If you know a regular who doesn't frequently browse these forums, fell free to let them know.

Scrims are organized, but not "serious" games. We'll be trying to win, but the main goal will still be having fun. Please be prepared to have a positive attitude. It's a community event.

    "Signup"

I'll take names of people, just so we get a good idea of how many are coming out. If you're going to play, let us know what time you'll be dropping by. If you want to watch but not play, that's okay too. Just put [sPEC] in your display name. People who didn't get a chance to play last week will get first dibs on the first game this week.

The rest of this post is just for people interesting in how the scrims will work.

    Rules

This is an intro to competitive play.

Scrims will be 6v6 and take place on 5CP maps or GPit. Last week we played to 5 wins, but if we get more people, we can make the number of wins lower, to accommodate substitute players or full substitute teams.

    Class limits at any given time are: Scout(2) Soldier(2) Pyro(2) Heavy(2) Engie(2) Sniper(2) Spy(2) Medic(1) Demo(1)

You don't NEED to play one of the "standard" competitive classes. We had plenty of spies, pyros, heavies, and a few engies last week and it still went great. Talk to your teammates and play what your team needs, or what you're good at.

    • Random crits and random damage will be off.

    • No Sandman

    Teams

Players who are participating in the current scrim will be determined before teams are picked. From those players 2 voluntary captains will start picking. (Captains can duel for first pick in a ditto match. For God's sake, not as spies.)

Teams will probably be balanced, but if they're agreed to be imbalanced, there's no harm is switching them up a bit. After one team wins 5(maybe less) times, we can switch up the idle players.

    Current list of attendees:
