    I have little to say on the issue, but since it's back I'll chime in.

    People who drop the N-bomb in our server receive an instant ban. Whether or not the term is directed at someone who's black is irrelevant; hate speech is still hate speech.

    But when you isolate and identify someone as a target, to me, that's significantly worse:

    "ITS A GIRL LETS RAPE HER" after the person identifies that Bonzai is a girl, to me, is not on the same level as dropping an N-bomb. It's on the same level of identifying someone's voice as characteristically black, and then saying "ITS A N***** LETS LYNCH HIM". I don't think either of these instances should ever warrant a second chance, but I don't think everyone sees it that way.

    Bonzai has asked me while I've not been in the server, to deal with players who are being racist. I've logged on and done so. The insults don't effect her directly, but it's a community she considers herself a part of, so she has a stake in it. Similarly, she should never have to think twice before using her microphone. She's smarter than that in other servers, but here she(and all girls) should rest assured that her community will back her up.

    No one in this community should ever think less of you for protecting the interests of any player on our server; community members especially.

    Doesn't matter. It has no place on our servers.

    Rambo, if you see something like that happen, don't hesitate to ban someone for it. Nobody will accuse you of any kind of conflict of interest, and if they do, they're playing on the wrong server.

    Honestly, as DarkeSword said, Rambo could've just banned him and it would've been just fine - there's no valid defense for that.

    No, I obviously don't care. I mean, just because I left the server several times yesterday in the middle of a game to see what's up with the mapcycle and mentioned in several posts in the last few pages that I was trying to figure out what was up with it..

    You know what, screw it, I'll just leave it the way it is. I don't have time right now to waste debugging srcds for Valve or sourcemod for the Sourcemod team.

    I saw your post a few pages back. You didn't make it out to be a big problem. I'm computer illiterate, so I don't understand the technical aspects of running a server. I just figured with a STOCK map server, implementing a very small set of stock maps wouldn't be an issue. I didn't know there were bugs and what have you.

    I'm just angry about the serious lack of communication in and about the community in the last month. There have been A LOT of problems lately, and everyone always says they're due to someone else's part.

    Moreover, there were a few individuals in the server earlier, right before we switched maps to a custom, who were being inappropriately crude. There were plenty of regulars on but no one said a thing. It started when Bonzai used her mic and one of the players typed out "ITS A GIRL" followed by "QUICK RAPE HER". I'm supposed to be an admin. I have the power to, and felt inclined to just insta-ban them. But not a single person, said anything. And some might say I have a conflict of interest in the matter. Anyway. Eventually we just both left. Which appears to be the appropriate action more and more when something stupid is happening in the OCR server. That's what used to separate ours from others.

    Garian was kicked for not playing Pyro-Tennis in OCR#1? Wasn't the entire purpose of having a second server for "experimental" stuff like that?

    There are other things. But most people already know them.

    OCR Scrims (IP 208.94.245.226:27060; password ocrscrim)

    This monday Nov. 9th we'll be having scrims between 7-11PM EST. Any and every community member is welcome. If you know a regular who doesn't frequently browse these forums, fell free to let them know.

    Scrims are organized, but not "serious" games. We'll be trying to win, but the main goal will still be having fun. Please be prepared to have a positive attitude. It's a community event. :razz:

    I'll take names of people, just so we get a good idea of how many are coming out. If you're going to play, let us know what time you'll be dropping by. (People who have already said that they'll play, sorry for not already marking your names down. I want to know approximate times.) If you want to watch but not play, thats okay too. Just put [sPEC] in your display name. People who didn't get a chance to play last week will get first dibs on the first game this week.

    The rest of this post is just for people interesting in how the scrims will work.

    Rules

    This is an intro to competitive play.

    Scrims will be 6v6 and take place on 5CP maps or GPit. Last week we played to 5 wins, but if we get more people, we can make the number of wins lower, to accommodate substitute players or full substitute teams.

    Class limits at any given time are: Scout(2) Soldier(2) Pyro(2) Heavy(2) Engie(2) Sniper(2) Spy(2) Medic(1) Demo(1)

    You don't NEED to play one of the "standard" competitive classes. We had plenty of spies, pyros, heavies, and a few engies last week and it still went great. Talk to your teammates and play what your team needs, or what you're good at.

    • Random crits and random damage will be off.

    • No Sandman

    Teams

    Players who are participating in the current scrim will be determined before teams are picked. From those players 2 voluntary captains will start picking. (Captains can duel for first pick in a ditto match. For God's sake, not as spies.)

    Teams will probably be balanced, but if they're agreed to be imbalanced, there's no harm is switching them up a bit. After one team wins 5(maybe less) times, we can switch up the idle players.

    If none of the community members give a shit about making the community better, why should admins. Admins aren't supposed to babysit the regulars. They're supposed to regulate the pubbies in an effort to protect the interests of the community. When the community doesn't feel the need to correct their own problems who are admins serving? I ended up just leaving.

    He offered before the round started. He didn't expect to play at all, but then he was picked.

    Anyway, I'm done on the issue. You're never gonna scrim with us again, and we'll never invite you to scrim again. Win win.

    Oh and Dr. Tran, he's just trolling now. Don't even bother replying. It's not worth your time.

    Had a great time tonight. I bumped up my sensitivity for playing Sniper and that didn't help my Scout aim at all. I'll see if I can't get a separate sensitivity for each class. Or maybe I'll just get used to it. Either way, I didn't do that great but that didn't keep it from being fun.

    I hope we do more of this in the future.

    I told you I was probably gonna get on at 7:30, and what time did i get on? I got on at EXACTLY 7:30. I knew that I'd have to wait for you guys to finish granary before I could play, which was fine with me. So then when we switched to gravelpit I figured that me and locked were gonna get a chance to play, since we spent the entire time spectating. And after waiting for you guys to kill each other for 20 minutes when pregame mayhem decided to last forever, I figured ok hey we're finally gonna get a chance to play now. And you called me a douche for saying that that was nonsense. Not only is that pretty silly since having to wait 20+ minutes to start a match IS nonsense, but I think it's a LOT more jerkish to after inviting me to play (which I obviously joined) but then laughing when I didn't get a chance to play once you guys started. I didn't join the server to make a tower of heavies I joined the server to PLAY. And also why didn't you let locked play? He said he wanted to, which I told you, yet he had to sit the map out again. And no he wasn't afk, because as soon as I went afk for 5 minutes I got console kicked (which should be disabled on a scrim server). So he was there the whole time waiting to play too.

    I'm sorry we aren't pro enough for you atmuh. I'm sorry we're just a community and aren't experienced at this sort of thing. But once again, you're the only one who had alternate expectations. Maybe once we have 100+ players like the FA server you idolize, you'll respect the community a little more.

    Both Locked and RED were invited to play earlier, and they both spectated instead. I never saw locked say a word during the gravlepit round, and I apologize to him if he wanted to play. There was a lot going on and he might have been overlooked. He's welcome back any time, but he shouldn't expect to play if he doesn't show an interest in setting up on the forums.

    So yeah I'll stick to scrimming with people that include absolutely everyone, including those who aren't confident in their abilities, get things done a lot more smoothly and quickly (we'd have finished 4 maps in the time it took you to do 2), and even have much more skilled players.

    Even in-game 45 minutes late, you were heinous and impatient. You were the only person in the server who wasn't enjoying themselves. People took turn sitting out, and if you hadn't been ALT+tabbing in and out of the game because we weren't worth your time, you would have gotten a spot. Act like part of the community, and you'll be part of the community. I'm not sorry you didn't get to play.

    Good games everyone. That was a lot of fun. It's unfortunate that the TF2 update drained the server... but aside from that and a few config difficulties, it was a great turnout!

    Next time we'll figure out the config in advance, and set up a map rotation by popular vote.

    Anyone interested in a repeat showing for next monday? Same time?

    Also, someone may want to take a look at the stats. I mean...it says I got a headshot with the Knife, for crying out loud.

    haha. I have a headshot with the kukri. I also lost over 3000 pts overnight while not playing. :smile:

    the game now has not only teamtalk but teamtalk while dead (which was one thing that made people want to use vent)

    so you just use ingame voice unless rambo has a vent server or something which i dont think he does

    I don't have a vent channel. Fireslash can hopefully set his server up to be running team/dead speak. And I'd like 2 captains to pick teams. Any volunteers? We can switch the teams up as needed while in game afterwards.
