Because i'm so involved with Sonic Team based communities (i still kinda co-run the NiGHTS into Dreams one) i get to see first hand how the Sonic lot act. They have their fair share of nutjobs, but i think every fanbase has them. We just tend to notice the Sonic lot more because ..well ..we're surrounded by them and our work tends to fall in to their catchment net! XDbut what I've noticed with the Sonic fanbase is there seems to be more idiot fans of Sonic out there than a lot of other fanbases.I mean, for example, i'm a huge Final Fantasy VII fan. But fucking hell, i can't even scroll two posts on Tumblr without coming across some extremist fans arguing with FULL ON HATE MODE ACTIVATED about love triangles, of all things. LOVE TRIANGLES!! What the shit?!
Lol, there are bad eggs in every basket, we just need to chuck those in the trash and cook with the good ones!

Actually ...you know, you're not far wrong. When Sonic 4 was actually announced a lot of the 'extreme fans' complained about Sonic's eye colour being green instead of full black. I am not even shitting you. It get's a little ..er ..scary sometimes, especially when the hardest of core fans get on a hate trail.I wonder how many of those toolbags bitched about something stupid like Sonic being the "wrong shade of blue" when Sonic 4 came out. Freakin' try-hard purists everywhere, man.(those same extremist fans once attacked our NiGHTS community because we had been campaigning and petitioning to get the character in to the first Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing game ...it didn't even involve them but they felt the need to blast our community to high hell, all because we were asking for our character to be featured.)
One thing to remember though is the Sonic series has a massive fanbase, all walks of life and all from different era's from the Hedgehog's career. I've been to some of the Sonic conventions here in the UK hosted by the UK Sonic community and they're a really great bunch, hell they had a rave at the last one and 50% of the music played were remixes by OCR alone! So the love is there, for sure!
I just want to remind everyone that while i certainly don't condone the unbelievably shitty way some of the fans are responding to this project, there are still some great fans out there looking forward to this.
And this leads me on to -
Hit the nail on the head, man!Always remember that whatever you do, some people will hate you and what you've done. But some people will always love it!We're doing this because we LOVE it. You can hear it in the quality of the work. And because we love what we do there are people who will feel it and love it too.
It's those people we should be focusing on.
Haters gonna hate, so skate over them when we release this bad boy!! XD

Hey all!
I'm currently Co-Directing the OCRemix album 'VROOM: The Best of SEGA Racing'.
I'm looking to cover
but take it down a very 1990's Eurobeat/pop/dance route. So, imagine that song with style like this -
.I'm just looking for someone who can cover the genre from a production stand point, i will be arranging the vocalists myself, so don't worry about the vocal work.
If you or anybody you know can craft music in this particular style then please link me to some of their/your work and if they fit the bill i'll get in contact with you via PM's to discuss the remix idea's in more details. Ideally, i'd like to have a short list of names so my options will be open to me.
Thanks for your time
-
Even a one time price of $10 per song would show you're at least trying.
I have to agree with this. It's a similar thing that happens with getting artists to draw art on board for our personal albums. You wouldn't expect them to draw something for nothing, you have to pay them ...and usually this means out of your own pocket.
Same with getting someone to do your music. Making music can take a long time, depending on what you want, and if you're asking for 20something tracks then that's someone's time completely taken up to accommodate your requests all for the 'possibility' of it being featured and no compensation in the slightest for the work aside from a credit.
If there's two of you working on this project then seriously consider saving up between the pair of you and offering something for these peoples time and workmanship. You might attract more people in the long run too, this way.
Just a suggestion
-
Oh yeah, for sure! I totally would add that in.You'd better have the line "Givin' nightmares like Wes Craven" in there somewhere. If only we were remixing that song!
-
Yo, sorry for the delayed response, i only just saw this.Bro. I do vocals. What are we specifically looking for.Dude, i had no idea you did vocals. I'll definitely keep you on the list as a possibly, i want to talk more about the song idea through with Damashii!! first before we start hunting more people to get on board the track.
The track we're doing is 'Angels with Burning Hearts' from Burning Rangers. Looking for someone with a soulful edge that can hit some high notes.
In any case, i'll keep you on the short list i'm writing up for now, man! Thanks!
-
Hell yeah. I'ma let the people KNOW!! *to the networks* ~The public album preview should be ready by this evening or tomorrow at the latest folks. Get ready! -
That's odd! The forum icon didn't notify me this thread was updated! My bad! o.o
Also, glad to see more people have claimed some more tracks. This thing is bulking out a little more now! Awesome!
Also, you can update the info for my Burning Rangers track, i will be collaborating with Damashii ...and possibly some others if i can get some vocalists on for it. But more on that later

Ooooh, is that why? I didn't know that. Though now you've set me on a mission to find hi-res SoR official artBut that explains why a lot of old school characters are off limits if there's not hi-res full-body artwork out there. And, while i'm here, Red Ring Rico from PSO. Because we have a HuNewearl mascot but not an actual official character with a name, from that series.
HOLLA! ~

1 - Vyse (Skies of Arcadia)

Dale North, you went and did it again, homie! This is ace!!
...i will now be singing the main hook line for months to come! XD
-
I think someone went IN! I think it was Metaphist!
Absolutely loving this one, man! Aoooowww!

Providing things go to plan, i'm going to be needing a female vocalist in the near future.
To try and save myself some time and headache, could i ask you guys to please post a list of female vocalists in OCR and any outside OCR that you feel might be down to do a little collaborating for a video game remix tune.
I suppose i might as well go and throw this out here, but i need a female vocalist who can sing the choruses (and some extra stuff) from this Metropolis Street Racer track -
Yeah, the subject matter is a little risque and full of that old skool SEGA cheese but it's still a classic. Yeah >.>
So a list of the female singers we have and any which you know outside of this place, please compile it here and let me go head hunting. Please post examples to their work, also. That would be a huge help!
Thanks!

Hey Dave, with all respect due, i think maybe you might want to reconsider using Segata Sanshiro's name in the album title. Not sure we should be using something that high profile in a fan-remix album title, if you catch my drift.1) Moons of Sanshiro
2) Moons of Segata
3) Moons of Segata Sanshiro
As a suggestion, think along old slogans and advertising catchphrases that the Saturn had during it's era. Like how the UK adverts had the "You're Not Ready!" slogan on them, maybe we could expand on that, something like "You're Still Not Ready!". Or the American slogan used to be "Head to Saturn", and we could make it something like "Heading back to Saturn". These are just thrown in for examples, not saying we consider using these.

Yo, you gone got SEAN PAUL on this mother fuh! I know for real he re-did all his vocals specially for this project. I spoke to him the night before he went back in the studio, he told me he was putting down some sick vocals for us OCR bredrins. DUTTIER!
Knocked it out of the park with that tune alone. I mean, it's Sean rass clart Paul, son!
-
Argh, man. I shouldn't do this because i really shouldn't be taking on any more work than i have already got on my plate ...
..but i'm considering taking the Saturn Bomberman track, finding another MC to join me on this tune here -
I just imagine us portraying White and Black Bombermen and doing some old skool thing here.
Just throwing the idea around right now. Not sure if i should do it or not, i just want to make sure this project has plenty of material so it passes approvals. I'd be gutted if the 20th Anniversary comes around and we don't celebrate it, ya know?
-
And i would like to say how happy i am to hear you claim thatI would like to claim Daytona USA -
Lol, and i shall continue to tempt you to do so, sir! This may very well convince me to bang out a Virtua Fighter mix...
...i did kinda mention it ....a few posts ago >.>;;Holy crap I forgot about Virtua Fighter. -
metaphist: Sorry guys, but Portanexus beat you to the punch.
Yo Meta, man! I don't know if you ever played Guardian Heroes, but i could totally see you drop some of that awesomeness on a tune from that game. Just a suggestion. This tune right here would be an awesome cover -
Don't mind me here though, i'm just throwing idea's around the place hoping something i suggest might stick with people and get them inspired to create something for this! XD Consider me a little bit keen for this project to get accepted ~
-
Hey Dave. Put me down as claimed for Burning Rangers, i'll be remixing 'Angels with Burning Hearts'.
I will be collaborating with people on this, so i'll update you on the list of names once i get them on board!
-
Someone really needs to remix this track for this project -
Virtua Fighter 2 needs representing on here too. Here's a suggestion for anyone looking to pick up a track -
(though to be honest, any track from Virtua Fighter 2 is pretty boss, i just chose my favourite here)And as a reminder, one of the best Bomberman games to exist was on this console. Saturn Bomberman is LOADED with sick tunes begging for a remix! - Medley of the soundtrack
-
Hahaha! Omg, i thought you had forgotten about that, man! XD You make me cry happy tears, sir! :')DiGi and I had always discussed doing a joke mix of that called "Living here is shitty"No, seriously, we have to do that at some point!
-
Atta, girl! Welcome aboard, Rex! XDWell, I'm in. -
XD Hahahaha!! Levs gave in! YES! XDI'm going to kill myself for doing this but....No, seriously, if you can contribute to this come the summer then that would be awesome, man! I know how hectic your schedule gets though, but still. Thanks for thinking over it, at least!

You know, some of the best types of fans i come across are the ones who don't reside in any communities. I call them 'adrift fans'. They contain as much love as any other fan who regularly visits a forum, but they keep to themselves online. And they're unbelievably humble too. I find that a lot of the work OCR puts out gets heavily praised by these adrift fans, because they're not constantly surrounded by negativity and they form genuinely well structured opinions of the songs we make. They tend to be just happy that their favourite games are being covered at all.
I do feel sometimes the Sonic fans take for granted what they have, all this love for one hedgehog and they just can't get along. Every other old school SEGA franchise struggles to remain active these days, one day when the hedgehog has been packed away in to its box by the company they're going to lose their shit.
But i digress, yeah. Some fans are just crazy as all hell.
