  1. The name isn't even good either. It makes it look like they're trying too hard.
  2. For those of you still working on your recording tone for guitar (or for non guitar players looking for cool distortion effects) check out this deal Karzog LLC is having: their collection of Guitar cab impulses, Recabinet 2.0, which contains amp models from the 1950s to the present, which is usually sold for $70, is being sold for $15 for a limited time only (says it's a fall sale). http://recabi.net/site/trybuy/ Being a rising rock/metal musician, I'm definitely picking this up. Mad props to Prince of Darkness for showing this to me. EDIT: For those who don't know how to use these, you add a special VST that uses these, such as KEfir or Voxengo Boogex, into your FX chain and load the cab impulse you want to use there.
  3. EQ is just balancing out the frequency levels in your different instruments - that's all it is. There's no magic to it. You have to be able to place all your instruments in their own frequency zones that don't occupy any other instruments' frequency zones. To blatantly steal Harmony's analogy, "Everything needs to have a slice of the frequency pie." Also, production won't fix shitty sounding samples/instruments unless you know what you're doing, which can simply take time and practice. Share with me this "Sweep arpeggio".
  4. Shouldn't we just ban the characters in general from 3v3?
  5. Get a remix posted. My guitar tone should be good enough by then. (my current guitar tone for the curious)
  6. Sonata Arctica's covered many, many things... Supposedly they cover Master of Puppets at live shows.
  7. Yup yup, exactly. Also getting a good drum tone takes positioning of mics and filter settings and whatnot so that takes a little time. Either Addictive Drums or Superior 2.0 is your best bet. Superior is more difficult to use but offers more customization, or that's what SnappleMan says anyway. Both are fine choices, really.

  10. I wish I was good with Magmus. Or in general.
  11. Semester'll be over before ya know it. :)

  12. Do I just pick bad times to get online or are people not online as much these days?
  13. Being a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE fan of these soundtracks, you'd think I'd want remixes of these, but I feel like they'd be way too liberal towards the original song, and just not good. Unless they stay metal, that is. :3
  14. I'm actually planning on spending a shit-ton of time HARDCORE working on music, which motivated me to ask about this project.
  15. I blame Atmuh. EDIT: also could I possibly do something for this? Probably too late to, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.
  16. Addictive Drums is great, and I only use the demo in my songs (I am poor, sue me). Superior 2.0 is a really good alternative too, though. I think it offers more customization based off what I've heard too, but I've never tried it so I can't say for sure.
  17. I'm fairly certain the statement was to be taken figuratively.
