  1. It's not a matter of rap destroying the English language, it's a matter of Soulja Boy Tell' Em's rap destroying the English language. There is some amazing rap, ranging from the control of flow to the lyrics to the beats (MC Chris has all three, in fact).

I'm eager to see how this turns out, but honestly, I don't care what the motive was for the ego-stroke, nor do I care that it's only getting bigger. I don't know the kid personally, and I'm not a fan. I just want to see someone who trash-talked the whole internet get his ass handed to him, as a lesson in humility. Even if he doesn't show it, he'll still feel the blow on a personal level. Same thing I'd want to happen to anyone else in the same position.

  2. hehe funny you mention that, my wife is a Sega girl, and I am firmly entrenched in the Nintendo camp. It's going to be a battle I think. :<

Thank you all again for the well-wishes, this whole thing is intense. :-)

Let's see which of those companies has a console out still... oh, looks like he's probably a Nintendo baby.

  3. The joke I make at my university is that there are are three fields you go into when you don't have a direction in life: English, Philosophy, and Psychology. I ended up in English.

You can still make a living off of your degree, which is something much more difficult to do if you had an English BA/MA/MFA. But if you really love something, don't make it your livelihood. As soon as you have to do something you love for money, it detracts from the satisfaction you'd received from it, just because it didn't make what you were hoping it would for something as high quality as it is in your eyes (depending on the piece.)

Whatever your choice, good luck. I'll probably be doing that in the near future too.

  4. Found Lordi recently by accident, decided they write catchy hooks and nothing else.

Got into Megadeth late, and discovered Bad Religion last summer at Warped Tour (easily the best in this list).

Paramore's starting to grow on me too. I'd only really heard two songs until recently, and now I listen to them on a regular basis.

  5. Sweet, I keep getting more and more excited the more I hear... oh, and I LOVE obscure music... any one who's seen my music collection will tell you that it's the most eclectic thing they've ever seen....

My only wish is that I had a good costume for it... How many cosplayers did y'all see?

There were like 5 at the NYC show. That's about it. I know some other shows have a lot of cosplayers, and they really welcome them. It doesn't matter how good the costume is, some of the ones I've seen (in person and photos) are aboslutely terrible. You'll probably be able to one-up them if you were to wear a cardboard box and say you're the square block from Tetris.

  6. Sorry if I seem like I'm trying to rush it, if I don't work on it while I still have the drive to do so, I'll never finish it. I actually like the original a lot, and I don't want to see this project die like the rest of mine do.

Thanks much for the feedback, I was worried that it'd be too repetitive. I'll see what I can do to fix that. I'll also introduce the guitar-ish thing earlier on, since that's what plays with the melody the most. It was included almost as an afterthought, but it seems to be the most important part based on everyone I've showed this track to.

  7. Game: Dungeon Explorer

    System: TurboGrafx-16

    Song: Overworld Theme

Wanted to give this song a shot basically since I started learning music, decided to see what I could come up with from FL.

    Second Version: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7152972

    Third Version: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7221359

    Current Version: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7540822

Source: Starting at 2:52 (everything before that is earlier in the sound track)

I appreciate all feedback. Just bare in mind that I'm still new to FL, and generally know jack about mixing/mastering.

  8. Three epic games. If you have a solid block of three games in a franchise, it'll survive, no matter how bad it becomes. They don't even have to be a block, just make sure you've got them in relatively close proximity. This has worked for Final Fantasy, Mega Man, Spyro, Mortal Kombat, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Castlevania, Guitar Hero, and the Sim-series.

As long as you have three good games, people will remember them and pretend that the newest incarnation is just as good, but not showing it yet. Then they beat the game, sigh, and play one of the old three again.
