I like the sound of it so far, but there are some changes I feel may make the song better. I don't know musical terms like the good people here, I'm just a guy. I'll try to explain it as best I can. I don't mean to sound bitter or condescending, it's just some constructive criticism from a listener meant to help you : 0:40 - I'm not a fan of the strings sounds. It's kinda jarring, throws it off a little. 1:25-1:35 - I like how it comes into the Lower Norfair part. But that 10 second part feels a little wrong. After the first set of trumpets, the strings should give it a little break until the next set of trumpets, like the original song has it. It would sound more natural. The way it is right now it seems kinda off. 2:05 - The xylophone part seems out of place. Not the kind of thing I think of from a song called Cyberdragon. Maybe a different instrument? 3:35 - I LOVE the Big Boss part, but at 3:35 I don't like how the strings go off on their own. I don't know, am I the only one? 3:48 - I love the Meta-Ridley strings in the background, but it should have the other half of that like the original, so it doesn't end at 4:00. Kinda the same issue I have with the Norfair part at 1:25. 4:08 - This ending seems a bit tagged on. I just find it uninspiring when a song just ends like that. The Big Boss section is the best part of the song. I love how the instruments sound. Problem is it's too short. You gotta let it sizzle for the listener to taste, sorta speak. You don't even have the latter part of the song there, part 0:20 of the original song. I think that would make for a better ending to the song, if it ended wildly, maybe with a gong, or an orchestra hit. Maybe get a sound bite of Ridleys roar echoing in the distance. I dunno, just throwing that part out there. I meant all this in the politest way possible. I just want to help make this song great. Hope I was able to give some helpful points. If you don't understand what I was talking about some parts, let me know!

Awesome! Thanks for hearing me out.

Who wouldn't want hear an orchestral arrangement of the many themes of Ridley throughout the series. Have it start out low and slow with the creepy Ridley's Lair from the original Metroid. Then it picks up in speed and power with Lower Norfair. Finally have it build up to the climax ending with Ridley's Big Boss Confrontation. Whoever would do this would be one of the rare people to touch on Ridley's Lair, a song that's rarely touched besides Zero Mission and Metroid Metal.

OCR01887 - F-Zero GX "Beyond Velocity"
The Favs replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This was one of my favorite songs on the game! Glad to see someone noticed it and made a nice remix to it. -
I'm all up for broadening my horizons (you should see my iPod library: rock, classic, polka, new age, rap, etc.). It'd just be nice if I could see a song, see it's genre and say "Hey, I feel like listening to a little *insert genre(s)*. I'd still hear anything, but it'd be great help if, for say, you're looking for something specific. Makes sense, right?

I have a question: Is there an option here on OC ReMix where you can search songs by genre? I know you can search by artist, game and composer. But what if I like how one song sounds like, and want to hear others like it? Does this site have it this option?

Thanks for taking interest rig1015. My internet's not wanting to upload files right now, for some strange reason. I'll try again tomorrow. Getting late now. Sorry it took so long to get back, I've been out all day.

Every Final Fantasy has an airship song. All of them, except FF2. Uematsu made one when it first came out, but was deemed to happy for the games theme, so it never made it in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57HOceGk6hM&feature=related I'd like to hear this song remastered like all the other Airship songs, cause Firion deserves a tune as he sails the skies, too!

Thanks Meteo Xavier! You've been very helpful. I've learned a new word: arpeggio! But what interested me in the Dissidia version of Prelude was not the arpeggio, but the style of the music. The calm and relaxing instrumentation. You said it was half new age. Should I look up new age then? And is there any songs or artists here on OCR that have that same feel?

I've listened to the Dissidia OST, and thought that the Dissidia Prelude was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. What genre of music is it? And don't say VGM (haha). What other types of music sound like it? Any other songs that resemble it? Any songs on OCR that are of the same genre? Any help would be appreciated.

I know this has been done a lot before, but I was taking my time making my own Dissidia english cast video to not only say who I think should do it, but to let you listen as well. Some I'm deathly serious about. Others I put as ideas that might work. You're entitled to your opinions. Here they are:

Yeah, I'm really mad at the way this project was going. I sure hope we find some new people who would be willing to dedicate some time to this. I witnessed first-hand this situation and it really grinds my gears. I put too much work into this to have it be for nothing.

Wow!! I love that opening! This song is just too cool!

Hey your right, Rozovian. Sorry, never played Super Metroid. Well, yes, she would still sound good in it!

I've just heard Kindred (beautiful) by Zircon and sung by Pixietricks, and it reminded me of Submerged Temple from Metroid Prime 2. I think if someone remixed it, it would sound beautiful if Pixietricks sang in it, especially when it gets to 00:56. She has that voice thats like the ocean: beautiful, dark, and powerful. It would fit perfectly in this song. Just listen to it and tell me what you think: http://boomp3.com/listen/c1bx55clb_v/submerged-temple

I was playing Halo, and one of the songs there sorta sounded like an orchestral or march version of Those Who Fight Further. Just an idea if anyone thought so too. Listen to the song and tell me what you think... http://boomp3.com/listen/c18r44hvx_b/those-who-march-further The song is Brothers In Arms from Halo.

I know. I wasn't asking for it to be an OC project. I was just sort of , you know, talent-scouting to see if anyone wanted to do it on the side. This place has the most talented people, so I thought here would be a good place to go. Thanks for the link by the way.

I have been a huge fan of OC ReMix and it's artists for a long while. While I was on this site one time, I came across a post that talked about a Final Fantasy VII Voice Over Project, which stated that they were looking for people to, well, voice over for characters in Final Fantasy VII. After I read that, a series of events happened that eventually lead me to become a part of that project. We're early in production, but I came to realize that it would be kind of cheesy if you were playing the game with real voices and had cheap MIDI songs playing in the background. There is a Mod for the game that lets you replace the MIDI with your own mp3's, so I started compiling songs from the OST that have been redone (Main Theme, Aeriths Theme, Those Who Fight Further, One Winged Angel...). But then I realized that most of the songs haven't been touched (Mako Reactor, Barrets Theme, Highwind Takes The Skies, Cid Theme, etc. etc....). Thats when I thought of OC ReMix. I'd like to know if there is anyone interested in participating in this project by revamping some of the songs from the Final Fantasy VII OST. Many artists here on OC have made songs that fit well. I especially liked Voices of the Lifestream. I have been able to use some songs there, but most of them are meant for listening pleasure, and not for background music. I love The Crossroads (Cid's Theme) by Jovette Rivera, but it would throw off the mood of the scene if I used that song in the game. What I'm looking for are songs that stay true to the original as much as possible. Nothing fancy needs to be done. Its fine if its tweaked a little, but it needs to stay true to the mood, like how bLiNd did Beginning of the End (Birth of a God). I appreciate all the work you guys do, and would be grateful if anyone wants to help out. My e-mail: therealboogyboy@hotmail.com. I'm The Favs, and I approve of this message.
