Taking away all ranged weapons is itself a downside, in case you hadn't noticed. DarkChocobo said it gave him only buffs and this clearly isn't the case.
True, but he'll also be able to charge a lot more, and cover more ground, as well as being flame and rocket resistant. Must be job for boolet then.
I also think the name of the demo's update is pretty true. 1001 demoknights, indeed.

Not really, the shoes take away the Grenade Launcher, the shield takes away the Sticky Launcher, and the ammo thing can hurt if you have anything but a shield equipped as you can no longer gain ammo from ammo boxes.
But if you've got sword, shield, and boots, why do i need ammo?

and then the replay failed to download properly.
and then you crashed!

I've had similar space issues before. I use a program called SequoiaView that visually renders file sizes as blocks based on folder and individual files, lets you know what exactly is taking up the most space in a given folder. It's pretty handy.
I actually use sequoiaview on my server at work to check out what the kids are doing.
it's a neat program.

I dunno. If a central server had to track that many youtube videos, I don't think even Valve could handle it.
Plus there may be a limit to the number of API calls youtube will accept from a single ip or set of ip addresses in a given timeframe.
I'll be giving this a try in a couple of weeks, once the kids are out of the school, i can use some tools to control about 300-400 at a time, get them to launch a url, and see what happens. See how it tracks it, and how long it takes for it to make it back to the valve servers.

If you got a non-geniune Hero's Hachimaki, I'm instantly sold.
Otherwise... maybe a brainslug or some refined?
Probably the metal, i don't want to trade away ma slug!

Not to mention that it was made well before the Replay Update, which means it's ineligible due to not being made with the replay system.
It also has a big 'don't vote for me' sticker over top of it now too.......

I have way too much fun naming these things. It lets my horrible puns run rampant. I'm tempted to get the blue-gray slate paint for my Yellow Belt and call it the Infinite Ammo Bandanna. But then I'd need to get a second can to make my Villain's Veil match.
I do have two cans of 'similar to slate'

Also, anybody interested in a Grenadier's Softcap? I'm kind of on the fence about keeping it or not. I was hoping to craft a Hero's Hachimaki and got this instead...
I'd be interested, what would you want for it?

I only have a single named item so far.....
It's a sandvich. It's Brushfire's gift, from when brush bought gifts for everyone!

I wish you would've mentioned this 2 monrhs ago. I purchased a four pack and needed to fill a fourth slot.
I wish you'd have mentioned this 2 months ago, i'd have jumped on it.

If you'll permit me, I'd like to briefly groan that TF2 requires bloody -quicktime- of all things to render movies. I absolutely loathe quicktime. Have for years. They should've gone with something like theora in an AVI or OGG container. Especially considering that 90% of users will only end up youtubing the videos anyway.
+1
I loathe quicktime, and the apple updaters, especially.

Of course you don't, you haven't beaten it
That may be true, but i'm still up $50! (if i had 50 to drop on it right now) Damn Student loans.

There's a lot more material in Portal 2 than there is in Portal. If you got 12 hours of enjoyment out of that game, you'll get a lot more out of the second one.
I'm sure i will. I just don't think it's worth $50 to me at this point.
-
Giving away a game during a promotion does not mean the game was free. It may not of cost YOU anything, but the game has a retail price.
You'll note i've made no other claims other than it cost me nothing and my experiences.
-
Portal 1 was never priced "Free", it came bundled with Orange box or was stand alone somewhere $20-30 i think. Right now its $10 and still not "Free" so not sure where you get that its a free game.
I do not think that its really worth the $50 its currently being sold for, even though I thoroughly enjoyed it. $30-40 would be a better price
At some point, Valve gave away copies of portal to people. I can't remember why, but both mrs bark and i got it at that time. I think if you go to valve's youtube channel, they have an ad for it, that says 'used to be free'. I agree it sounds like a great game, but i'm not sure on the value return for it. I'll pick it up, once it's on sale.
-
Really? The first time I played through Portal it took me about 4 hours.
I played around with a couple of different solutions to things, retried maps, i got about 12 hours of enjoyment out of it. But since it was free, it's hard to figure out what would be good a price for the sequel.
-
Um...there were plenty of opportunities to pick this game up for something like 35-45 bucks before it even came out. I mean obviously the game will drop in price or go on sale again, as all PC games do, but it's kind of silly to lament the price point of a game that just came out last week; never mind the fact that it's well worth 50 dollars as it is now anyway.
Um, i got the first game free for something like 12 hours of gameplay.
This game seems to have the same amount of gameplay, but they want $50 dollars for it. Even with the replay value of co-op/multiplayer, it's still coming out a little low on the value scale. I probably won't be picking it up until it's on sale either. This is, of course, a personal decision, but i think it's still a valid way to approach it.

You are aware that everything pointing to an early release came from those games and the related ARG in the first place?
Edit: TF2 servers are being restarted (with the votes still disabled) to address an issue with the Melee Only plugin... which should now work again.
I thought they were releasing the game on April 19th... you know, the day skynet supposedly went sentient......
(well played Valve, well played..)

Agreed. I don't like the idea of the Caber being able to randomly crit, even with a -25% damage nerf. I don't think the Eyelander and variants needed it either, given that it's the base melee of the Demoknight subclass and grants an on-kill bonus. And that unpronounceable sword is even more worthless than before, if such a thing is possible.
You are aware it's just 'Claymore' right? (claidhmore)

Preorder a game that doesn't have hats? Never.
But it does have a hat! you get it from killing someone in TF2! How's that for a meta cross over?
how about you should never pre-order a game that beat Palladium Books in a court of law?

We played Swiftwater just yesterday and it has gone through some major improvements. It is much more vibrant and fun to play than previous versions. I think that most everyone enjoyed it very much.
I didn enjoy it very much, and wanted to nominate it tonight, but didn't get a chance too..
-
There are apparently a few interesting changes that got added to the Beta version of the game yesterday.
Changes Snipped,
Loch-n-Load
- +10% damage
Most of the changes sound pretty neat, and the new weapons sound kinda cool, but someone at valve really loves demomen.

Can't we chalk it up to my own tiredness and stupidity and leave it at that? ._.
Why can't it be both?

Somehow, i knew this to be true. Will you stick with the axe, or go with the sword?
