  1. Okay, so based on previous suggestions, I have created a new refined version. The drums are stronger and more intense; the square lead does not cut through the remix--reverb and delay were added; "opaqueness" as described by TGH has been changed; volume has been modulated to better levels; overall EQ is better! Please check it out! http://www.box.net/shared/kjesolhcfi Also, I have changed the title to "Mod Review."
  2. Alrighty, version 3. Now, I wanted to keep the basic beat, because honestly, I like the way it felt; slow and easy. At the same time, I made sure to add lots of intensity, to make the drum more exciting, esp. the snare. As for the lead, I improved the blend and melding with the others; definitely not as sharply cutting through the mix as before. It melds a lot better with the rest of the sounds. I amped up the wetness and reverb a bit. FILE NOW IN MP3 FORMAT http://www.box.net/shared/qx1qfp0ovu
  3. The drums are still too bland; I noticed that you stuck really closely to the pattern I had put in my mix, and they want a different, more varied pattern. I think we should work together to get the right sound for that.

  4. I see what you're saying there; I was working with the volume a bit but wasn't entirely sure if I should bring it down as I didn't want the other instruments entirely overshadowing it. The volume's an easy fix; as for the sharpness, I will add some space to the part to make it less of a constant sound stream Alright, will revamp the drums, though I will probably keep the FL sound. The whole thing was pretty much for the sound of the drums, not so much the pattern, but I will definitely work on that. Oh, so sorry about that! Odd.....before it was working perfectly with M4A....I'll see what I can do.
  5. Apparently that is the format of iTunes songs.....and you listened to the updated version with the new drums?
  6. This is an update on my remix; now with much stronger drums (FL drums as opposed to GB drums.) Also, I adjusted the delay on the Square Lead a little so that it wouldn't seem to "cut through" the remix as much. Please, tell me what you think! Link: http://www.box.net/shared/drdtj0zv9j
  7. Oh gosh, that's the exact comment that I left in response on my WIP! I would LOVE to step up my drums, since Garageband's are sooo weak. If you could help me out with those that would be AMAZING :D Also I definitely understand where you were going with the mixing of the square lead; we're gonna work on that to make it more atmospheric :D

  8. I'll have to look into that one; I love those old chiptunes, so I may give that one a whirl I do rather like the lead, but I agree with you in another listen that the blend is questionable. When I was talking with TheGuitahHeroe about this remix, we were working on making a bit of a wetter sound to make it more atmospheric. While when we were working on it before I didn't quite understand what he was getting at, I understand it quite well now. I will work in making that square lead a bit more ambient. As for drums, that is a common problem for Garageband. Though on this piece I didn't really change around the drums that much, in general, the drum pack that comes with Garageband is overall weaksauce to the max. Are there any drumpacks you would recommend so that I could get a stronger sound out of them? I find myself constrained when working with Garageband's.
  9. Hey guys! I'm coming at ya with a brand new remix from Pokémon Black and White! It's the theme that plays within Celestial Tower and Dragonspiral Tower, named Tower of Heaven by Junichi Masuda and Go Ichinose. It's got some pretty creative stuff in it! Give it a listen and tell me what you think! Remix: http://www.box.net/shared/4gyv5csg4c Source:
  10. Hello my fellow OCRemixing community! Here comes my GSC Game Corner Remix; they just keep getting better and better! You'll notice the tempo in this remix is much slower than the original; the purpose was to make it a bit more funky and catchy--to me, it just sounded cooler slower Alright, so for this one, I need your help and critique especially, because I am having a hard time choosing the better sound for my mix; one synth pad is making all the difference. I have here two versions of the same remix (made by Garageband '11.) The first remix was my original remix--as in, the way I originally created it, with an unadjusted Manori Stab Pad. Here the harmonies become a little bit less clear, but I feel that the intensity in this remix is amped by this certain adjustment--as in, it just sounds cooler to me. The second remix is my altered remix--as in, the Manori Stab Pad has been adjusted for more clarity (though for a few parts I altered the decay to bring back the "intensity" where I really needed it--IE, the ending, arpeggios, etc) While clarity increases for a good portion of the mix, I feel like the intensity took a little bit of a hit there. This is where you all come in. Please tell me which is better and why, what to fix, etc. This is one I really want to end up submitting the the OCRemix judging panel, and I really need some review to help me out. So I thank you all for your time; below, you will find the remixes Source: Original: http://www.box.net/shared/340159yv00 (More intensity) Altered: http://www.box.net/shared/2f101uoc4q (More clarity)
  11. Goodness, after listening to that section again I hear EXACTLY what your talking about. I think that's Garageband's way of trying to make it more "real" by making it seem like a strum or pluck of a string. Either way, that's an easy fix, and I will be sure to get rid of it right away. And I own a guitar, I just don't think I could play the part that well at all. Hahaha but I will definitely check those threads out. Thanks for your help bro!
  12. So overall, a better instrumentation, and more eq manipulation? Im not sure what the click is that your are referring to......I don't here it, could you give me an example of where it starts? Also, I make remixes with garageband, would you happen to know any good compatible syths I could use for it? I've really been looking for a decent guitar font; its really hard to run across those; as well as a techno drum kit.
  13. Link is below the youtube one (titled archive) I use archive.org.
  14. My first remix I believe I put up for review here was the G/S/C Champ battle, as it was the first theme I had every really remixed. I've come a LOOOOOOOONG way since then (it's been over a year), and felt the need to redo this in a more epic, melodic style. My common critique around here is to deviate from the form of the song, which I think I executed quite well. It's probably the piece I've worked the longest on, and the one that builds the most from beginning to end. So go ahead, give it a listen: I'll give the YouTube link as well as the archive site. 15. Yes, this has most definitely helped! Yes, it's Steven's set. In my opinion, he is the true champion; Wallace doesn't even come close. Haha I always get carried away with the bass; I typically get it LOUD and keep it that way lol. I'll adjust the volume on that Yeah, it does seem to be more of a standard form I guess, with the head, then solos, then head again. I think more than anything I might need to add some more percussion changes. I really love the ending build I did; the chord at the end (A) just sang to me. lol The low health thing is a great idea; I was thinking of branching into more sound effects and such, so that could work out really well Thanks so much for your critique; always what I want for improvement
  16. Please help me improve on this piece. I rather like it, but I wanna get some opinion before submission. Thanks guys. Here's the links! ReMix: http://www.archive.org/details/PokemonRseChampionThemeRemix OR Source: This is done ENTIRELY by ear; no MIDIs were used in the creation of this piece. Solos and improv were entirely original
  17. So this one is definately a work in progress...but I've gotten a lot of compliments on this one. For now, it's a short song as it is a WIP and not totally finished yet. Tell me what I should add, and in you opinion where I should go. Here's the link: http://www.archive.org/details/SpiritSummitPokmonTower (Click the download link if the playback fails) Source:
  18. "Wow! That was noise. Thats all I have to say." --mak You want noise?!?!! I'll show you noise!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! haha Just kidding everyone. Here's a new remix I made of the Pokémon Black/White Reshiram/Zekrom/Kyuremu Battle theme. I thought the way it sounded in game was disappointing, so I tried making it better. I like this mix way more than the boring march/ globbing together of previous themes as it is in the actual game. You may think the ending is abrupt (which it is) but still...lol. As usual, no MIDIs were used in the production of this song. Anyways, tell me what you think! (Youtube link for now; bettter link coming soon!) 19. So this is my first post in a long time now.....anyways I've been at work lately at some new B/W remixes, and this one was my first. A very proud production--provided a small MIDI by LugiaDialga and then went from there. Went WAAAAYYY far from there: solos, key change, new backgrounds, percussion (altho a bit overshadowed, intentionally of course) etc. I'm so proud of this work, I'm posting it as a "finished" product! For now, the best I can do is youtube, but another link will be provided ASAP! LINK: SOURCE: PS: If you're wondering about the funky disonance between the guitar and other synth part at 3:36 (different by a half step) THAT WAS INTENTIONAL; i put in a little bit of dissonance there to pronounce the resolve a few seconds later.
  20. Don't worry, i can take critisism! After all, it's why I'm on here in the first place; to get other people's opinions on my work, so I thank you for that. It actually wasn't too harsh For the piano, I am definately gonna alter the filter; I sort of liked the effect that the static gave; sort of muffled to make it sound like it was coming from inside something, or underwater, but I think it probably had a little bit too much. I am really gonna add some nice echo to that too, and build on the changes. Those changes were just ideas I had at the time, so a definate expansion on all of those is definately gonna come up. I like where i was going with it, and feel that extension would be really nice for it Not essentially 12 minutes plus, but longer, no doubt. Regarding the drums, I am working on a smooth changing drum line. This usually tends to be my weakest points; I'm not normally a guy to feature their percussion section, but I've always really wanted to expand on that. So yes, a drum line is coming The first end chord is the chord that occurs right after main melody; at about 0:58, where the piano is featured. I believe its an A chord (going by ear). The second chord is the chord of the key the song is in, Db. The ending does have to be reworked though; perhaps a build to those chords
  21. Here's a tune from the third generation which many people like. It's a very laid back and calm remix, witha great long piano solo, as many people have been requesting Tell me what you think! Link to ReMix: http://www.archive.org/details/PokmonRseAbandonedSipRemix Link to Sounce:
  22. I would definately LOVE to expand on this remix; adding more build to this would be perfect. I've put though into expressing a certain development within the song. I agree with the low volume of the tracks; some parts are washed out a bit and need to stand out a lot more. I notice with this mix that my use of dynamics is low; i should probably do something with that. I am definately working on an extended piano solo, as i really wanted to. I love the sound the piano has with the mix, so i cant wait to be more ambitious with it Thank you so much for the critiques; i shall get to work on this right away!
  23. EDIT: Okay so i have it uploaded to a share site: Just click the "4.4 MB" writing, in blue, and you will be able to listen to it! here's the link: http://www.archive.org/details/PokemonRseDiveThemeRemix
