  1. I'm pretty sure she finished her track. I can't wait to hear it, myself.
  2. I sing (female) and play piano (as well as harp and some other instruments). Could I help?
  3. Thank you so much! How interesting that you were reminded of Hava Nagila - both songs are in the Phrygian dominant scale, so it makes sense. Jewish/Hebrew folk music is really cool. World music in general is just awesome! I can see where you're coming from about the hot low frequencies. I blame the inconsistency between all my monitoring devices, haha. I'll probably try and fix that before I put it on the EP I'm releasing soon. Thanks! I really, really appreciate the feedback. I'm glad I accomplished what I set out to do with this song.
  4. I liked all the pages on FB and I'm posting here, so I'm definitely in.
  5. During the Sony conference, my husband and I laughed really hard when they were showing the Ruin gameplay demo for PS Vita, and the announcer guy breathed heavily and occasionally broke from his speech to ask the player "where ya goin'?" and "how ya doin'?" 0:41 and 1:18.
  6. Thanks a lot! I had fun doing the harmonies. I don't know how I did it (probably thanks to Cuban coffee), but I recorded ALL the vocals in the space of a few hours. I wish I could always be that productive, haha. I may just cover "The Islander" one day; Nightwish is such a great band. And since this thread only has one reply so far, I'll stress that I would love some more feedback from the OCRemix community!
  7. Hey everyone! This is my new original song, "Divine Retribution." It's influenced by Middle Eastern music, and the lyrics are inspired by the war in Iraq. I wrote, sang, arranged, and performed all the parts (vocals, harp, dulcimer, piano, tambourine), and my husband did the djembe, rainstick, and additional tambourine. Feedback and/or constructive critique of any kind is welcome and appreciated! I'd love to hear what you all think. You can hear it at the Youtube link below. I hope you like it, and thanks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0jowDFTuf8 Edit: This song, along with two others, will be going onto a three-song EP I'm releasing sometime late this summer. I'll probably post the next song I finish for it within the next few weeks!
  8. Fishy, I sent you a rough mix mp3 of Rose of May sometime ago. I mixed it again a week or two ago and I'm pretty sure it's like 99% done. I'll take another look at it in the next couple of days, and if I find it satisfactory, I'll send you a wav. Well, I sing, so if you need a real vocalist, I could certainly help provide vocals or whatever else needed!
  9. Aw, I'd love to hear your remix, too, Kate! I think everyone's got some good ideas about how to use it despite your commission keeping you busy. In any case, I've made lots of progress on my remix of Rose of May. It's like 70-80% done and I'm all excited. I was able to get a lot done these past few days since I finished my classes for this semester last week. Yay!
  10. I'm a (female) singer, so I can help, too! I can pretty much sing any part (alto, soprano, etc.), since I have a lot of choral experience. Let me know if I can be of assistance.
  11. Wow, cool! That sounds pretty awesome. I've never made samples before, but it might be something fun to try in the future. I myself have a harp of my own, a 29-string one, so I was naturally drawn to this post. Great job! How do you even do these samples? It baffles me.
  12. Thanks a lot! I did, too. The moment I got to see and touch my first harp at a Renaissance fair in March of last year, I was struck with harplust, and didn't stop until I found the one I have now, lovingly played in that recording.
  13. Wow, I'm surprised at all the comments about reverb. Hmm. The vocals actually do have reverb already. I experimented a little bit, and I didn't want to overdo it; I just wanted a light coat of reverb to keep the sound more natural, if you will. I suppose it could potentially use a bit more (probably on the harmonies more than anything?)... I can see what you mean about the loudness on the vocal track. I do think the last verse in the lead vocal was a little bit loud. It's strange, because when I was working on it in Cubase, it was almost too low and that's why I bumped it up a little. But when it rendered and I listened through the computer's audio with headphones (not my interface), they were almost too loud. Weird... Perhaps I could fix it a little and replace the audio in the video, if necessary. We'll see. Thanks! I noticed you commented on the Youtube video as well; thanks for both! This song isn't actually mastered (because 1. I don't know how to do it myself yet, and 2. I can't afford to pay someone to do it now if I'm not yet commercially releasing it), so...yeah. It could always use maybe a -bit- of tweaking. It's really close to what I think it should be at this point, thankfully. In any case, thanks to everyone for the feedback. I really appreciate it!
  14. No responses yet? Bummer... It would be really nice to get some feedback. Compliments, constructive criticism, it's all welcome. They'll help me with my future projects. If anyone's interested in what the lyrics are, I can post them. =)
  15. Hey, everyone! This here is "Sundown," an original song written by me in August-September of 2010. I spent a few months recording it - it was a lot of hard work because I'm a perfectionist and refused to compromise quality, haha. I sang, arranged, and played all the instruments (harp, guitar, keyboard) except for percussion (djembe, tambourine, rainstick), which was done by my husband. The instruments are all acoustic except for the keyboard, which is that subtle "bass" sound later in the song. It's the first song I wrote on the harp, which I've been playing since May 2010. I poured my soul into this song and recording, so I hope you guys like it! Feedback will be appreciated. Thanks! Youtube link: MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/natalyazarraga
  16. Hmm, I've been thinking about it, and maybe I could try my hand at Loss of Me? I've always loved that song (one of my favorites from the OST), and I think I can come up with an interesting arrangement with my instruments. Fishy, if you want, since my equipment is much more in order now, I can try to whip up a short WIP so you can see what kind of ideas I have stewing in my head. Would you be interested in that? I'll PM you another recent sample of my stuff if you want.
  17. Hey guys, here's my cover of "Once Upon a December" from the 1997 movie Anastasia. This is my winter/holiday song for 2010, and I thought it would be nice for me to post it here on OCR. I sung, arranged, and played all the instruments (harp, piano, glockenspiel) except for the tambourine, which my husband did. I managed to get this online in time for Christmas - being a perfectionist I still think it could be even better, but I'm relatively satisfied. Maybe the sound quality could be better. I dunno. In any case, I hope you like it! You can either watch the accompanying video with the description on Youtube or stream it on MySpace. I prefer the Youtube, personally. http://www.myspace.com/natalyazarraga I will greatly appreciate feedback. Gracias, and enjoy!
  18. Hola, everybody. I actually joined earlier this year, but I've pretty much been lurking all this time and this is only my first post here. I haven't done a whole lot of formal "remixing" in the OCR sense, but I know looots of video game music and informally make my own versions of them. I also occasionally write lyrics to some game songs. I sing, write music and lyrics, play piano, keyboard, harp, and some guitar and glockenspiel. I love Final Fantasy, Mario, Zelda, and a buttload of other game franchises. Good stuff. :3 But yeah, it's really nice to meet you all, and I'm hoping I can get to do some of my own remixes and get in on some collabs. If anyone needs any female vocals or anything else I do or just wants to talk and have some music fun, then hit me up.
