  1. Robin (with male and female skins) AND Lucina revealed today, along with Chrom making a cameo as part of Robin's Final Smash. I'm not huge on Fire Emblem but they look pretty cool. Nintendo is spoiling the shit out of us with all of these female playable characters, that's for sure.

    Also, Captain Falcon's return confirmed!

    freaking hype

  2. Um... I expect music to be different. So, this idea just won't work here

I don't mean "let's talk about how the music will be" if I caused confusion. I simply meant "let's get on to music." I was simply saying let's worry more about remixers and eventually the WIP's they send in (at some point hahaha).

But I'm saying artwork should probably be the lowest of your priorities and then the title isn't super duper important right now either. The most important factor is getting remixers right now and then beginning the deadlines for WIP's. :)

  3. Ok, so this is actually really cool. The snare/clap is compressed out of the mix a little much so I'm not getting much of that.

Also, I feel like there could generally be a bit more bass in the mix. A bit more in the low end. That bass is pretty freaking awesome.

My one other critique is that at 1:55 and then again at 2:56 and so forth, that section with the ¼ note hits should probably some how be made a lot punchier. Maybe add in more punchy instruments there to really make that hit nice and punchy.

Everything else about this is really sexy.

  4. I'm curious, why do you say Sonic?

The Conan Video was hilarious. America lost to Smash Bros.

What Thalzon said. MJ had a part in the music of mainly Sonic 3, but beyond that, part of Sonic's design was actually based on Michael Jackson: his shoes. Sonic's shoes were a mix of Michael Jackson's shoes and Santa Clause, believe it or not.

And yes Salluz, Sonic is in Smash Bros, hahahaha

For me, more than Mewtwo, freaking Roy. Where the friggity frak is Roy?

  5. Isn't most vgm happy though? I'd wager roughly 90% of all VGM ever made is probably happy major-chord upbeat stuff. I want the thread that seeks the opposite of that. We've had happy vgm and vgm that makes you go O_O. Someone make next thread!

    this is very true.

video game music in general just makes me happy

  6. The first episode of the original anime was also very closely based on the first chapter of the manga, which is why both first episodes are so similar.

Well then that would explain it.

Again, I haven't read the manga (I don't really read manga), so I wouldn't know.

  7. I don't know if it counts as anime, but I was watching a few episodes of "Legend of Korra" and it's entertaining. I hear Platinum Games is making a game based on it.

It's anime-style. I think it counts. A game, huh? Never have watched Legend of Korra but that could be interesting.

Flawless, nuff said. On a serious note though, I thought it was the perfect way to start the reboot. I loved the subtle detail changes (a lot of people bitched about certain characters having different hair colors. Like, seriously??) and how close to the manga it is (we already knew that it was supposed to be that way, but seeing is believing after all). The animation quality was amazing, the transformation sequence was really cool imo since they used CG. I just love how they modernized such an old anime into a visually stunning production. Toei wasn't making this reboot just for the fans who had grown up with Sailor Moon, they did it for the young'uns of this generation so that they could grow up with it too -- and it showed.

My only thing is that this first episode is extremely similar to the original first episode and so I just am hoping this is more of just a starting point and they don't stay too similar to the original series. I want something original, ya know? I heard it's based more on the manga so I'm assuming that means it'll be a bit different.

What I did like is that they made things a tad bit more clear in Crystal compared to the original first episode.

But hey, it's the first episode. There's a lot to go. Hahahaha

  8. I've always been really proud of my work, but I've become more and more happy with it over the years, obviously because I've improved dramatically. There are some aspects of my old work that I'm still really proud of but I easily notice how much I've improved since then. But if it's not something I want to hear, I don't release it anywhere.

I finish and release what I think is better than what I'm hearing compared to it. Obviously I'm not going to compare myself to the absolute genius King of Pop Michael Jackson, but if there's something that's slightly bothering me about one of his songs that also plays a part in a track of mine (for instance, the kick or snare) or just something that I'm like "hmm, how can I make this better?" or "hmm, how would I specifically want to hear this to satisfy me?," that's the type of stuff that I work hard on. I try and pull off something that will satisfy me more and additionally make me want to constantly have my music on replay and still love it. That's when I know I've got something good.

Speaking of Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson's motto was "study the greats and become greater" and that's basically become my biggest motto when working on music. Even if I were never to gain any huge success, I would much rather make music that I'll feel really great about. I'm honestly a really hard-to-please guy and I'm not easily impressed so I push my music as far as I can go with it until it's as perfect as I can possibly get it. I'm a huge quality over quantity guy. I won't release anything if I don't feel it's quality enough.

Now, if I'm required to do some music for someone else and I've got a tight deadline and a serious time crunch, I try my absolute hardest to make it the best it can be but since I don't have all the time in the world, I have to just get it done by the deadline and make it as good as I can. I'll obviously request a few extra days if what I've got is not something I'm even relatively ok with, but if that can't happen, you do what you gotta do.

Another pain is being the over-perfectionist I am. I'll think I've got it just right, release it to the world, and by the time it's too late to take it back, there's something I hear that I wanna fix. It's just how it goes. Hahahaha

But yeah, without sounding as arrogant as possible, I feel really great towards my work. Sometimes I don't like what I have so then I'll try and see how I can really improve it or I'll just start over and try something completely different. But I never ever go full throttle with a song that I do not feel really confident about, unless it's something like the whole deadline situation.

  9. I guess you're right. Maybe I'm being too harsh, probably due to bad experiences I had on past projects like almost none of them finishing and having my songs stealed in one of them.

Yeah man that sucks. That happens sometimes. Ya just gotta get back up and try again. :)

As for which project, I'd say BoF since you got on top of that one first. Unless this one is gaining more attention and you feel more towards working on this one instead.

  10. Well, I dont want to sound rude but you could have just said It was dead (or on the 'back burner').

I'm new to the oc forum, I dont quite know how things work here, I just want to collaborate with other musicians, If your project is dead then just say it man, dont wait til I have done the remix to tell me that.

Btw, thanks Chernabogue, Melbu Frahma and G-Mixer. I hate getting into projects that wont get much dedication.

One of my least favorite things is when people give up that easily. The project is not dead. He's saying back burner because he's probably planning to get back to this, even if it's a while from now.

If he wants to continue with this, he will. If he's got some dedication for it, he'll make it happen. But from experience, don't overdo yourself with projects. Ha. I'm still recovering from how much I've put on myself.

Also, if you've finished a remix and then he says he can't continue with it, then just submit it to the judges or upload it to SoundCloud or something. Never let something go to waste if you're proud of it. :)

  11. Not wanting to crash the party (no pun intended), but you seem a little too ambitious here. You already started a recruitment thread for another album the SMG one), you asked Tuberz to take the BoF project, and not two weeks later, you are willing to create another project? Plus all those projects seem quite ambitious too!

I don't want to sound unpleasant, but I think you should take a step back and consider it. You're very new to OCR. Projects take a LOT of time, even if you plan a lot ahead. Maybe you need more experience before trying to run such projects (spending more time at OCR, knowing people, etc.) Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd strongly advise you to focus on one project for now.

Please note I'm no OCR staff, but my experience in projects tells me you may be a little too eager here. Just take it as a friendly advise. :)
