  1. I like it. Sounds like some later area of an RPG, but electronic where it would normally be orchestral. I like the octave arpeggios too. That sucks that you couldn't finish it.
  2. A while back I found an interesting YM/FM soundfont that had a lot of Sega Genesis-esque instruments in it. While it's not exact, it's about as close as I felt I could get without hacking the game, which is something I don't really have enough knowledge to do extensively. Anyway, I started rewriting the soundtrack to Sonic 2 using the soundfont and used a nifty tool that a ROM hacker made that allows you to play MP3s in place of the songs in Sonic 2. I did some palette and stage name changes to go along with my music. So here's what I did for Chemical Plant Zone: Or if you just want to hear the music: http://www.box.net/shared/xm6h1s874x
  3. Sounds good to me. I really like what you do with the slow strings and the main flute melody. I would say, though, that at times the drums feel oddly off beat (particularly some of the successive snare hits) and sometimes the instruments line up oddly in the sections between the main flute melody. I think it's one of the lower instruments that somehow just feels out of time at those points. Other than, though, I really like the sound of it!
  4. Great work. I like how the chord progression gets a little spooky-ish at times but the tune as a whole remains peaceful. RPG music has always been one of my favorites. Keep it up!
  5. Hello, I'm new here and am a long-time fan of video game music. I've been writing my own stuff for around 5 years via MIDI, soundfonts and some trackers (mostly Famitracker). I like attempting to recreate the sounds of the 8 and 16-bit eras (usually NES and Genesis) and am somewhat of a purist when it comes to those sounds, but I don't really have the knowledge to always be able to gather all of the instruments/samples. I am hoping I can learn more how such sounds are recreated through whatever means and am also trying to learn more about using FL Studio to create a more professional sound to my music. I am currently working on a game for which I am using Famitracker to create all of the music and sound effects. As for remixing, while I have yet to do any actual "remixes," I have transcribed a lot of different tracks to MIDI or module and applied a different style to them. My latest rewrites, which are on Youtube, are Castlevania III songs using Dawn of Sorrow instruments in Milkytracker. My favorite game series is Castlevania, which also has my favorite game music. My favorite game overall is Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. I love a lot of music I have found by OCRemix artists (LSD, Gecko Yamori and SnappleMan are a few names that immediately come to mind) and am excited to have finally registered on the forums!
