  1. Hey, do you go to WCU? That would be fairly awesome.

I wonder who exactly at Gamestop that is. Most of the cool people I thought had left. Hmm. I worked there around this time two years ago, so I'm guessing you probably aren't a WNC native.

I took classes at Western but didn't live on campus. Some of my friends stay in Walker and I'm up there every once in a while. I moved from Wilmington to Fontana in 2004 so I may have bought some games from you at one point or another! NC represent sippin' on dat purple drank.

    Or something.

  2. I've submitted three remixes, all of them receiving a NO vote. I was trying to do something different (as usual) with that mix and it never really came to fruition. I submitted two songs from Chrono Cross and one from TMNT2 but they weren't top quality, although I thought my last submission had a lot of potential that I just couldn't muster. Glad you like the remix.

Theory is very important because you want to make sure all your notes and rhythms fit together properly. You can't just throw down any old notes and chords and expect it to sound good. If you've the ear for it, you could feel something out. One of the most important things you'll need is patience, which I never had. Take your time. As far as we all know, OCR isn't going anywhere.

  3. This thread is really for any remixers who would like to take a crack at remixes that I never really got around to finishing or resubmitting.

Breath of Fire II - The Girl Who Heard Dragons

Chrono Cross - Variations of Suppressed Memories

I would work on these projects myself, but for lack of time and software, I really don't have the opportunity to. I only have links to WMA format, as I don't have webspace to host, but I can send MP3 if you happen to catch me on AIM. Or, if you know of anywhere I could host, PM or IM me.

  4. The only people who don't like Snake are fanboys who think his spot is better deserved by some other gay character who probably wears black and is calm and stoic or something.

No, I just didn't really blow a load over the MGS games like most people who played them. They were decent games, I just don't think Snake is a good choice. But I felt the same way about Capt. Falcon and the Ice Climbers too.

  5. well, they have been condemned by those who hate Anime. There are a few hopefulls out there. honestly, I think it would work out, cause you could have a summon for the brawl icon move.

Hey do you think that Hal Labs will push for more of their own characters? I know they got Kirby, now Meta-knight, and they helped with the Mother series (Earthbound) so they got Ness but how about Lolo? from The Adventures of Lolo. (NES)

I'll admit it. I loved both Golden Suns. The characters would be good fighters. But there are some other characters that would work out better I guess. I'm a little annoyed that Snake is a character, honestly.

  6. I've had several encounters involving OCR clothing. I talked to some ugly girl at Western Carolina I saw wearing a shirt. She loved the music and had actually downloaded my Chrono Cross remix off VGMix. She thought it was "eh" or something along those lines lol that was around this past October. Last spring break there was a girl in a wet t-shirt contest in Myrtle Beach wearing one, but this dude kept yelling "that's my shirt oh my god that's my shirt!" like it suddenly worth $100000000000000000 or something. And there is a guy in the Asheville GameStop that always comments on my shirt when I wear it in. I think I remember someone wearing one once when I visited UNC, but I could be mistaken.

I get more kudos for my Homestar hoody.

  7. Even though this song is meant to compliment "One Girl in All the World", I don't think that makes it necessary to compare them to each other in a sense of which one is better. Both are fantastic - each just puts its own spin on things. They have different focuses - while "One Girl in All the World" seems to focus on the feeling of one girl isolated in a vaste unknown place, giving a lonely undertone, "All the World in One Girl" is more introspective. It shows an underlying, simple happiness and beauty. It's cheerful, but not obnoxiously so. The piano is light and intricate, flowing beautifully throughout the piece, and the organ is a lovely, lively addition that suits the song well. There seems to be quite a variety of instruments that are perfectly blended together. The drums don't do much, but they're subtle and carry the piece without "intruding", so I haven't a problem with them.

I initially heard this one right after listening to "One Girl in All the World" and at first didn't like it as much. But after a few listens, it felt to me that "One Girl in All the World" was meant to carry a feeling of exploration, power and loneliness, and "All the World in One Girl" was of a more inward, thoughtful, comforting and simply happy focus. They're two different looks at one thing, which is what remixing in general focuses on - a different take on something. The feel of one might appeal to some more than others, but both pieces are excellent in their own right and each compliments the other perfectly.

Now that's what I call a damn good review.

  8. I love the ambient feel of the beginning. It generates this feeling that is both warm and chilling all at once. I'll disagree with the opinion that the song would have been better without the drums though. They add a nice double-time feel that contrasts the atmosphere of the rest of the music. Around 2:50 is very strong, where the lead chime bit comes in. The dropoff around 3:15 is a much needed break, and a nice touch. A tad too long, but that's just me. Overall, I'm very impressed with CotMM's change of direction, and I feel this is a standout piece for him.
