i love the fact that this mix has been entirely reworked from the ground up and re-released.
The original one is an amazing track so what more can be said about the remake of such an incredible track?
Nothing.
the original is amazing, this is amazing.
CarbohydroM idk how you do what you do but keep doing whatever it is you do cause its kicking ass.

This is one of my favourite tracks on this album and now thanks to ectogemia i get the reference in the name was a reference to the band CASIOPEA vs T-SQUARE, and if the rest of their music is similer to this track? well they will have a new fan.
-
i just like to thank you guys, i like jazz but havent really got a favourite artist, so this thread helps with that
edit: i do like jamiroquai so i guess thats kinda jazz fusion

I've just found this thread, and I've immediately thought about 25th anniversary album. Who likes this idea?I wanna see a New Sonic album that focuses on the current generation and past gen, like Sonic Colors / Generations / Lost World. Wouldn't be a half bad idea. You could make an album for Sonic Colors alone, that game has amazing music.
so a sonic generation remix album. i like the concept.
-
They called it annoying for a reason.
-
As I stated on fb I love the show, always excited to see who will be next. Its just a pain you post the videos Just as im going to work. >.< ohwell.

I ADORED Croc legend of the gobbo's
but my GOD the game is so damn long i never officially completed it.
it does have a great soundtrack such as the main
the
All the characters are god damn ADORABLE.
caddicarus sums up my feelings here:
if any of you have young children i would highly recommend this game as a introduction to the platforming genre, yes it can be tricky later on but for the fun you have from this game it is definitively worth playing.

Good job!
I'll also point out that the digital download of the album includes artwork with various additional notes that expand upon the lyrics and spoken word segments. Cheers.
hence where i got all that from

Lyrics:meet nico smith
Nico Smith, is quite a special case; our sessions have brought up rather interesting things.
his fantasies in particular are vivid and detailed, and almost certainly rooted in his childhood. they are also very unusual.
Lyrics:Somewhere Green
For today's exercise, i want you to think of someplace green. someplace pleasant. someplace where you feel at peace. can you think of that special place? It shouldnt be that difficult.
Lyrics:Lost Marbles
Now i want you to think back. As a child, did you ever own a set of marbles?... and did you ever happen to misplace those marbles?
Lyrics:In the yard
There are things in our childhood that can affect us, shape us. when you were younger, did you play any games out in the yard?
Lyrics:Complex labyrinth
From the beginning, the most peculiar then i noticed about smith was how linear the elements were to his fantasies, it was a singular thread of concepts, folded neatly into a complex labyrinth.
Lyrics: Soft lights
He told me he had dreams in which he was an animal - a creature running along at supersonic speed. In his words, he could "see nothing but a soft blue light(...) as if the whole world was a frozen blur" as he sped along.
Of additional note is his apparent interest in musical composition. At his home resides a rather old and uneven piano, upon which he performs pieces that "play in (his) head" whenever he enters these fantasies.
Lyrics:A Special Case

Eggerman: so tell me; what is your assement of smith?
Associate:Well, he doesn't hear voices, nor talks to himself. he doesn't seem to have any delusions as far as i can see. he seems to be in control of his extremites. he doesn't yell or lash out at anyone. I dont think he's dangerous. he doesnt injure himself, and he has no outward feelings of putting himself or others in danger. doesnt seem to have any deep fears or anger. you really werent lying when you said he was a special case.
Lyrics: kevin Eggerman
Nico, are you daydreaming again? In case you've forgotten, im kevin eggerman, your psychoanalyst. im here to help you, and i need your cooperation, maintaining communication is the key to effective psychoanalysis.
Lyrics:Mental Detritus
Nico, i get the feeling you're becoming more and more distant in these sessions. We've gone through most of the detritus of your past, but we've yet to access how these elements play into your recent life. your current condition. most importantly,i need to know what you truly believe.
what i believe?
Lyrics: finality
All things that live must surely pass. circle of life that move so fast. we smile it off, we all pretend, but we all began, we all shall end.
cant stop finality, it is finality.
life is too short to be restrained. must free our friends from binding chains. defeat the enemies we face so countless creatures can be saved.
it is reality. cant stop finality. it is finality.
Lyrics: Hedgehog hysteria medley
When we first met, smith seemed eager for accessment and treatment. unfortunately, as we continued he regressed further into his fantasies.
In his protagonist role, he battles foes and frees innocent beings from mechanical bondage. my secretary called smith's condition " Hedgehog hysteria" though the hysteria description may not apply in this case. the idea of speed though areas seems to harken back to playtime at an earlier age.
At this point i have come to the conclusion that smith truly believes he is this hedgehog character he created in his mind. since it is crucial that he remain communicative in these sessions, i cannot resume my work while he is in this state. i can only hope he can find help at the hands of medical professionals at the facility.
-kevin eggerman, psychoanalyst.
"Kevin Eggerman" - lyrics by B-Type
surveyin' the scene, it’s all pristine
lights, camera, action, time to dream
rotund doctor, easily qualified
to check out what’s goin’ on inside
mind fried? let him take a look
attempt to untether insanity’s hooks
brain shook, what’s your intention?
he's known as a hobbyist for invention
robotics mostly, just for fun
his passion lies where your mind runs
like an oiled machine, makes sense to him
i will introduce himself, Kevin Eggerman
appearance lends to caricatures
he strokes his ‘tache as his mind whirrs
a spectacle in triple thick glasses
passes the bar, but slow like molasses
due to the puppy fat wrapped round his waist
he’d be quick to put ya in your place
because he’s strict, does serious work
one time came a cropper of an office clerk
accusing he of animal cruelty
all just heartless conjecture, see
it’s untrue, let him do what he do
for a psychoanalyst, he’s got quite a crew
what will he do to you? gaze inside your mind
like he had drills straight attached to his ride
that’s right, he can penetrate
what’s your malfunction? check your state
what’s his fate? he gets a tax rebate
for helpin’ kids get on their way
delusions, yo, that be his specialty
the mind is a cage he will set free
Nico Smith tends to regress
into a place i must confess
conveys as bizarre, the doc tries hard
to get him back playin’ in his yard
every time the pair progress
doin’ the work the doc does the best
at first in jest, but now seems real
Nico grabs save states with zeal
trapped inside the illusions ride
can he not come to terms with how people die?
coz when he shifts from the illusion’s coil
he starts again, carries on his toil
in another world, it’s gettin’ worse
he does speedruns, it’s well rehearsed
the same show repeats over again
but at least it doesn’t seem to cause him pain
but he won’t refrain, he's gettin’ deeper
takin’ over his mind like an ivy creeper
what will Kevin do, man? what’s he got?
can this be solved with a homemade robot?
a little chuckle, quickly muffled
psychiatry and invention? not coupled
but Nico’s state aint gettin’ better
as the doc removes his red, yellow sweater
he's a go-getter, will not fail
this will soon be another tale
of success, he won’t dismiss
case 50-N.I.C., Nico Smith
you are very welcome i just typed all that out just for you.

Brb i need new pants after hearing that...

People bought Zone of The Enders, another full priced $50 game on the PS2, for a Metal Gear Solid 2 DEMO. If we translate that into 2014 money dollars, it would've been around $72 for, again, an at most 25 minute long DEMO.
Well that sounds like a reasonable course of actio-
yeeeah im a sucker for the series, it works in my favour that i am unable to play it due to the lack of a console, i know logically that its a rip off but my heart tells me i want it, and normally the heart wins over my head with me.
-
I haven't played it but here's how I feel based on what I know:
- Should have been $15 max
- Should have been digital only, no physical
It DOES feel like they're just using the MGS name to pick up some extra cash, to me.
as a actual mgs fan i can absolutely agree with this.
konami are cashing in on the franchise, they wanted to sell it at that price. from what i know kojima wanted to do as was listed but my sources are flimsy.
it should have been a demo put out to promote 5 at digital download at 10 bucks max.
glad my ps3 died or i would be playing it now.
- Should have been $15 max

im gonna answer your question with another question.

"The bombastic symphonies of Shadow of the Colossus, the J-pop arias of Kingdom Hearts, and choral psalms of Halo: Combat Evolved were certainly wonderful themes. Halo specifically demonstrated music that’s become iconic with its series and memorable to any passing fan. But while these examples are truly wonderful performances, ignore them for a second."
wait what? why? these are exactly the types of vgm that is amazing.
i'll explain why the music in newer vgm isnt as memorable and i'll use movies as a example.
When we think of memorable movie themes who do we look to?
100% it will be John Williams
after all who can forget memorable themes like the
,or thenow what am i suggesting? well basically john williams was a master at his craft for one but the other fact is that he took a simple approach to alot of his themes that could be whistled to or sung to without missing the main part of the song.
have you ever tried to whistle to say... dream theater?
not impossible but highly difficult.
i think that is what the crux of the problem is, simplicity, which is exactly what the older gen of games had in spades. but that's not all of it, after all who remembers themes from consoles like the commodore 64 or the spectrum?
no i think the other part is having the themes be uplifting or catchy, and being a non-musician i cant say what defines as catchy but the uplifting part i can say for certain will make people remember the track.
so what am i saying? whats the tldr;
i disagree with this review that vgm has lost its way but i will say that nowadays with the extra sound and musical instruments given to the vg musicians i will say it is more difficult to cultivate a memorable theme.
my solution to this?
make the musician work with the Nes/gameboy soundchip to cultivate a track that sounds good then take that and turn it into a real song with whatever musical tools they choose.

congrats to you mirby on finally getting this album released.
and congrats to all artists on this album,
i shall check it out and give my review of it eventually.

Sup people ive been away awhile, my 2 cents.
Let sonic retro continue to hate their favourite game series and everything about both it and all fan made stuff about it.
ive seen the worst of the fanbase and i can say anything they say DONT take to heart.
am i considered part of this fanbase? sure but when i see bullshit i call people out on it.
i saw g-mixers comments about 2 months ago but to be honest i thought not to tell others about it and not cause the drama that has played out.
let me put this simply for you all.
i enjoyed the album.
you guys enjoyed making the album.
fuck the rest of the fanbase.
much love
psyche.

cheap sheeit from argos, jvc brand
if i want actual loudness and quality i go for headphones
the jvc brand i normally buy has lowered the volume their speakers play at so i need to find a new brand to get but quality is good.

Regardless of how good ben affleck will be i came across this petition on my fb feed : http://www.change.org/petitions/warner-brothers-remove-ben-affleck-as-batman-bruce-wayne-in-the-superman-batman-movie
now... disliking a choice is one thing but petitioning?
i feel that the internet has lost all logical sense and is just petitioning anything they remotely dislike nowadays.

like what exactly
daredevil, apocalypse, pearl harbor are the main ones that come to mind, his acting style really doesn't stand out.
Tropes vs. Women / #GamerGate Conspiracies

Ok ive officially avoided this place since gamergate begun because my viewpoint was vastly different from everyone id seen on my twitter.
i will say this now, i couldn't care who you are, if you enjoy games you are a gamer.
i will say this though, i find this whole situation a fucking mess.
the issue that brought up by gamergate is the corruption of the gaming journalism, but instead the "sjw" side brings up that if the opposing side are racist sexist bigots if you disagree with them.
that isn't how it works im afraid
being sexist means you actually hate women and think they are a lesser being then men.
being racist means you feel that your own position in society means you are better than people of different race/gender whatever.
arguing with someone because they called a inanimate object a word that used to be used to described the mentally disabled isnt helping fucking no one.
people say there isn't any rolemodels for female gamers in the gaming industry just are not looking hard enough.
bayonetta.
clementine.
mona sax.
find more here.
do we need feminism in gaming? no like any strong movement it takes time to embrace into the media and us gamers have been intergrating strong female characters into our gaming over time.
you know what we do need a positive gaming character for?
transgender.
we have almost zero
it was brought up in game theory and to be honest i can seriously agree.
we also need to focus on other races but most aren't shown as negative as transgender people.
but the issue everyone has avoided is the corruption in gaming journalism but it seems everyone wants to continue avoiding this legit question to one that we are slowly solving ourselves.
you wanna put down girl gamers just remember, 1 it doesnt help your case and 2 they are actually the majority now. so think before you outcast yourself.
