Yeah, the padkontrol looks like it has some nice features not to mention it looks very simple to set up and change the pads to different drums. The pads are assigned through midi notes, so it can even be used for playing synths for extra fun. I have never really used one for recording, but it looks a lot more natural for recording drum parts. You could also use it to play samples through a song as well. The old records would probably give a vintage feel. It should be interesting. You could call it - Vinyl Beats. Pretty snazzy.

My price range would probably be around 100$-150$. I really like the Korg padkontrol you mentioned. It looks pretty solid and nice.
