  1. I don't know you, but this made me feel sad, because selfish logic said "OMG, I want to make money through making VGM in the future, what if I get bored of it?" Alarm bells have rung... But I do have one question for you. You're bored of music? Or you're bored of making the specific genre(s) of music that you have been making. There is a big fucking world outside of OCR and VGM... Maybe venture out there before laying down your sword to rest.
  2. I can make a beat or two. Hip Hop beats are my forte. That's if Beatmakers are still necessary. What better way to integrate with this community than to do something for it?
  3. Not bad, I like the little vocal bits you can hear coming in and out from 0:41 onwards. Also, there is one part at 0:52 where the shakers come in, and they kinda indicate what the rest of the beat should feel like. IN MY OPINION! I think you need to change up your drum sounds and the drum pattern if you're looking for something more old-school and bouncy. You know, more shakers, put a bongo and congo in there, force the listener to nod. See, the current drum pattern you have is very quantized and very perfect - And this is the problem. Mellow, J-Dilla styled Old School Hip Hop always has a little bit of nice syncopation/offset in the hi hats. As for the sounds, I'd say you need a kick which sounds less hollow I've put together a quick pattern to show you what I mean. http://www.4shared.com/mp3/ZgWXOCL3/Example_Drum_Loop.html?
  4. My synthesis and FX are weak. Most of the stuff I used to do was VST instruments, not really synths, so I lack in that area. However, I tried using the method you specified (Used Chorus instead of Unison though). I dare say, I'm on the right path. Although it's beginning to sound like a dubstep sound. Thank you so much. Here's what I got so far. http://www.4shared.com/mp3/AJ30G7NL/DAT_sound.html? - You can hear it here. Any further support would be greatly appreciated. This matter regards synthesis, with this in mind, know that you are talking to a noob.
  5. I've looked for a guide on making this specific type of sound, but to no avail. Probably because when I type "Buzzy-wide-bassy-but-not-subby-distorted-synth" into google... You get the idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yl8Mq_CGWQI - Here, you can hear it come in at 0:44 - 0:08, similar type of synth.Detailed guidance would be very much appreciated. You'd make my dream come true. If it helps, here's a list of the VST synths I have: NI Massive NI Razor NI Reaktor Prism NI Reaktor Spark Rob Papen's Albino 3 FL Studio factory plugins. Thanks in advance!
  6. Hello, I'm Adrian. Aspiring VGM composer. Alas, the aspirations are currently greater than the skills with which to achieve them, but we'll get there . Found OC remix via: FL Studio -> Zircon -> Mindblown -> Youtube search -> Press conference/seminar on entering the VGM business -> Mention of OC Remix. I used to make Hip Hop beats (Still do sometimes), but eventually, it turned into me stealing other people's songs, programming drums over them and calling them mine. Then started composing for Hip Hop, got pretty good at that, but found the genre to be limiting. Got a little older, lost my "wanna-be-black-and-gangsta mentality". Opened up to other genres of music, embraced it, and here I am on my quest for knowledge and development. I will ask many questions. (But worry not, I'm aware of the search function.) Hopefully, I'll become part of this community.
