  1. Alright, let me try to explain it more.

In the beginning, there was one Falchion, which was Marth's. However, in the same game, there is a fake Falchion. So far, that's two.

Then in the 13th game, the original Falchion gets old and rusty, and becomes the Sealed Falchion which is much weaker. After a point, you get the Parallel Falchion, which is a direct copy of the original; but not the same.

Finally, the Sealed Falchion regains it's strength and morphs into the Exalted Falchion, which is stronger than the original.

The Falchion is the only one with those properties that you mentioned. Not the Fake/Parallel/Exalted.

(Also, the Falchion is always capitalized in the games)

  2. Just some corrections:

It looks weird to put the thing that's being called something in quotes and the thing it's being called in not-quotes. On the other hand, it would look even worse with quotes around both. I'm not sure what to do about this one, if anything.

Marth doesn't wear any armor in his games, so trust serves as it's equivalent. (Honestly, it could also be a million other things as well)

Just out of curiosity, would it change the meaning at all if "his Falchion" was just "Falchion"?

Completely. There are other Falchions, just this one is his own.

  3. Not to be a butt, but I think there's plenty to choose from in the main numbered Final Fantasies. Opening it up to Tactics and stuff would just introduce themes that nobody's ever heard of, part of the appeal to this is hearing themes we all know and love. Whether it's Cloud, or FF9 Moogles, Kuja or flippin... Rydia from FF4.

But opening it up would introduce people to new songs as well.

  4. Unless, of course, everyone chooses Red XIII's theme. :-P Then it's, like, a 7.9% chance.

Which actually reminds me. Are you only accepting main series character themes, or are non-main series (Tactics, Legends, Dissidia) accepted? Granted, the Dissidia themes are mostly the same as the originals, and I can't think of a character theme from any of the other non-main series... so maybe that's kind of moot.

Ramza, Delita, Ovelia, T.G.Cid, Marche, etc

  5. I checked with Matt and he's not doing Sonic Compo after WCRG, so we may start up after WCRG. Have not decided between tournament style or gauntlet style, will try to follow up with DS.

Edit: Checking with DS, I believe we will stick with the tournament format. So it would be you against another mixer for the knockout, or your crystal will be shattered, the original concept. Character themes, no bonus themes.

So, when do we sign up? :)

  6. I get why 2 weeks would be better for the remixers but it would clog the system for other compos :-(

It would also cause a lot of fatigue on non-participaters. Really, remixers should only take an extra day, but that's hard to keep track of.

So, the next compos are looking something like this:

Sonic Composition ( SuperiorX), Final Fantasy Gauntlet (Brandon Strader), and Sigma Fortress Remix Gauntlet? (DarkeSword, he wants to do one eventually, won't have a chance until February-March)

  7. Anyone else interested in this?

I was thinking I'd like to make it more like WCRG, where instead of mixing a week and potentially getting knocked out, and feeling bad, you would join up with a team of other characters (three people) and would instead face a randomly selected character, let's call him/her a "nega version" or a dark version of that character, which you would then have to battle. Your theme plus that character's theme. You'd go 1 week then be off 2 weeks. A lot easier for people with not so much time who could then prioritize it every other week.

I would still be able to participate because I would RANDOMLY select everything, not with a coin flip, but either something digital or the old fashioned picking-it-out-of-a-tophat.

    Thoughts?

So basically a Final Fantasy WCRG, but with Characters instead of Robot Masters and Battle/Boss themes instead if Wily Stages?

    I'm down for that.

Also, I think you should start sign-ups soon since the WCRG is probably going to end in about ~1-2 weeks.

  8. Bump....

    So no advice / interest?

Noone wants to be one of the 108 Remixers Of Destiny?

Naw, I'd be on it easily. I think you should just focus on one game at a time.

Maverick Rising worked because most of us grew up with some sort of Mega Man X. As well, MMX has consistently memorable songs. Also there was the GMRB 2010 around that time to stir some memories.

Suikoden isn't as famous, and doesn't have comparable songs in quality.

  9. Hello all!

I have an album idea for the Genso Suikoden series. I'm not sure how to go about this but I do know there are alot of songs spanning the main series (Suikoden I through V). Here are links to a list of the songs from each games OST. Quality wise I'd like something, say, Ectogemia or Phonetic Hero would normally make.

    Here is a primary link.

I'd like to use this thread to gauge interest in this potential project. Personally I have zero experience in organizing these things and would like some advice from some established project directors / assistant directors. Thanks for reading all this :)

    So something like Maverick Rising?

  10. We all wrote a part, then wrote another part, and we didn't REALLY edit each other's parts, so it came out surprisingly cohesive. Since I exported the final, I weaseled a lot of Schala in there (0:35 glockenspiel, 2:00 glockenspiel, 3:36 glockenspiel then 3:40 lead guitar too, 4:51 glockenspiel) -- in addition to what you mapped out :-)

Just wanted to point that out. It wasn't mentioned in the submission email, a bit of an easter egg.

    Thanks for the kind words y'all! <3 <3 <3

How did you all add on to the song? Did you share a MIDI file, or project file?
