  1. so, when I was messing around on the piano I acciddentally stumbled upon dracula's castle. And after I had played around with it for a bit I actually really liked how it turned out. I changed the key and quite a few chords and made everything a bit more dramatic. It's only in its testing stages so I didn't even bother making a 'perfect' recording. The audio quality is fine, though. Any thoughts on how I could improve this? Besides the obvious sloppy playing and bad ending. Any feedback is hugely appreciated.

  2. I consider this mostly finished. I could always make little adjustments, but I don't think I can really improve this without any drastic changes. If anyone knows some improvements, then I'm still interested in hearing them, though. And I could also throw the initial remix overboard and make drastic changes if it is required. But before any big plans I'd first need some constructive critism. So if anyone has anything to say about this, then it would be greatly appreciated.

  3. So I've stealed some better recording material, and made the whole a little more coherent. The perfomance still isn't perfect yet, but it's somewhat acceptable. When I've got a final version I might have enough patience to get a perfect take. I personally think it's a little long, but that could be because there's so much source material. It's shorter than my previous version, though.

It'd be nice to get some constructed feedback, especially on the arranging. The recording is pretty clean this time, and the performance could be a lot better.

  4. Ah yes, I wholeheartedly agree with all of you. At the moment, I've already finished my arrangement, but I want to use some better recordingmaterial, so I haven't recorded it yet. To make the flow seem more whole and medley-ish, I've changed the order, and thus some weird transitions. And I've also changed all the songs to a 3/4 classical genre. When I'm going to record, I'm also going to use a better piano, because the piano I used last time is pretty worndown. So those changes should make everything better. I'll try to get a better recording as fast as possible.

  5. Good day,

I know that medleys aren´t preferred, but I just couldn´t help myself this time. Every rainbow road is in it´s one key, except for the first version of MKDS. However, when it´s repeated at the end it is in it´s own key. I tried to keep the arrangement interesting by a couple of harmonisations, and a a signature change. My pianoplaying isn´t virtuosic so there are a couple of wrong notes and slight unnatural tempo changes, but since this isn´t the final version, I can always get a perfect recording when I´m fully done with this remix.

  6. There are some really weird emphases throughout the whole remix, especially on the euphoniums (I think that's what they are, I'm not sure though.) For example in the very beginning on the sixth note on the melody (the f). It's accented louder than the rest of the notes in the melody even though it's in the middle of the musical sentence. I don't know if it's on purpose, but it happens a few times in the remix, but quite consistently.

The trumpets are pretty highpitched. They don't have any body, and sound muted. That is fine when it's used for the trumpetsignals, but especially at the later half of the remix it could be a little more wah-ish. Like the trombones. Right now they don't have a backbone, which is a loss when they are used in the mainmelody.

There's a very pretty, floating ambience at the chorus. It's really cool, but when you repeat it a second time for the climax it's actually a little too pretty. It's only a little bit more epic than the first time. You could at more percussion, and you should definitely make the current percussion more apparent. For example the snare.

But I still really liked it. Great job! I was thinking of covering this song myself as well, but I don't think that is necessary anymore.

  7. We will be discussing suitable musicians this weekend, but feel free to share anyway! We may have more to discuss after our chat. Much appreciated!

Hm, I really suck with computers. Since I'm going skiing for a week after this friday, I tried to record everything today. But the things didn't really go the way they were supposed to go. So I'll try to work things out when I'm back from my skitrip. I did record something that I could show so that it will be easier to discuss things. But it's only piano, in stead of a the accompanying flutes I had all written out but didn't work. There goes three days of epic flute solo practice... I can explain the rest in a private chat.

  8. Searching ReMixes for "Wind Waker" works just fine: http://ocremix.org/quicksearch/remix/?qs_query=Wind+Waker

We can look into it for (way) down the line, but the search tool isn't Google, in that it's not designed to offer results for misspellings, not using spaces, or using commas instead of colons, that kind of thing. It offers results for many alternates like abbreviations ("FF" for Final Fantasy, "MM" for Mega Man), but it has to make sense. If we're missing legitimate alternate or abbreviated names for a game and a search doesn't work, definitely offer it up and we can fix it.

Also, maybe I'm not clear on what you meant, but if you click the word "mixes" under the search box, that will return specific ReMix results instead of just games.

Ah, I see. From my experience with it I thought just Wind Waker dindn't work, but after reading your reply and playing around with it a little, I found it a lot less frustrating than first. I guess this is a good example of "things that don't work before you take it to the repairman, but when you're there it suddenly does work" scenario. Wind Waker was just an example, and I didn't actually test it out before using it as an example. I guess this also explains why nobody else has had this problem before. THank you for your time.

  9. Good day,

After reading through most of the side issues & feedback thingy I'm pretty sure I'm the first one who has this problem so it could be just my own fault, but I've got trouble with searching games on the website. As in looking for remixes that belong to specific games, not just games. That would be silly. The problem is that I think the search bar is way too picky. If I spell just one letter wrong it just doesn't show anymore. Which means that if I look up The legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, just Wind Waker doesn't suffice. Nor does Legend of Zelda, Wind Waker. I have to spell it exactly right. I think it can't be hard to make it a lot simpler. I know it wouldn't be the end of world if it isnt't possible, but I think it would help a lot of frustrated musiclovers.

    Thank you in advance,

    Jorik
