  1. Guitar doubling is a very common technique among guitarists for getting a wider sound. The usage here was a bit unconventional because usually the doubled track is played nearly exactly the same, whereas here, the tracks were somewhat different. I don't think it's a big deal though. Also, the lead is only slightly panned left as far as I can hear. It's definitely not hard left.

I think the strongest point of this track (and the reason why I'm rockin out to it so much) is the fact that the doubled tracks are not identical. You know that urge you get when you listen to a song in your head to improvise other directions it could take -- Darangen is doing it for us, and I love it.

One of the coolest people I met at MAGFest and an ever growing presense on my playlist, Darangen never ceases to amaze. Keep it up, bro. :)

  2. I must say, this mix is a perfect reflection of how wonderful it can be to hang out with a good group of people from OCR. So what if they're from the internet? They rock. To Jill, Mike, Andrew, and Jeremy: I couldn't have asked for a better group. The opportunity was more than I could have dreamed, and the way we clicked still makes my head spin.

And a little treat from IRC: [02:52] <shonen> We're the Deluxe Tricky Tossing Zircon Samurais

  3. Wow... OCR has turned into a kindergarden. You say something, you stand to your own opinion and get flamed to hell.

I'm so proud of you, Steve.

And I stick to it - like it or not:

VGDJ is only VGDJ if Aurora and Rayza do the show. Else it's not VGDJ. It's as if VGF is without Larry Oji... is it still VGF? I guess not.

But sure... go ahead - do whatever you have to do. Nobody forces me to listen, and nobody forces me to give any support (which also counts to the torrents).

    Again... two tumbs up...

Yes, I agree Compy. Taking cheap shots at a generous soul who's taking time from her own busy life to do something positive for the community is definately kindergarden level. And in case you don't know what that is, take the example of zircon making the remixing tips thread and getting beef for that.

Your problem is that you don't know how to be thankful for something that doesn't fit your ideals, no matter the time, effort, or dedication it takes. My radio show (not trying to be self centered here, just making a point), Chrono Symphonic, and now VGDJ. If it's not 110% enjoyable, it's not worth your time.

Compy, I'm making a simple request of you right now. Tell me some things (that I would know about) that you do enjoy. Name some people, events, and things that you really enjoy. I don't want it here, I want it in a PM, because this thread is not for our discussion. I'll of course forgive you if I'm "not worth your time," an excuse you've used in multiple conversations you've had with me, simply because I know you have so many more important things to do in your life. But if you could, find some time to PM me that answer. I'd be honored to hear your response, and that's not being sarcastic.

VGDJ is only VGDJ if Aurora and Rayza do the show. Else it's not VGDJ. It's as if VGF is without Larry Oji... is it still VGF? I guess not.

I'd talk about your VG Frequency replacement shows, but I'll save that ammo for another battle.

  4. Yeah... we found a "suitable replacement". *cough*

VGDJ to me is still, and will be, the original only if the canadian fraction does it. Else... it's just not VGDJ. Sorry if I hurt your ego.

And as long as it's just you complaining, we don't give a fuck.

Oh damn, I hope I didn't hurt your ego0bm.png just then. Sorry about that.

  5. Poo's part is my absolute favorite. His voice I'm sure I've heard somewhere else.

Poo is played by Steve "D-Lux" King, who I believe hosts the radio show Very Good Music (and I'm really guessing the show he hosts off the top of my head, if I'm wrong, please please please correct me). If you've heard the show before, you know the voice.

You have quite a memory there. ;)

OMG U R FAN. I AM STEVE. BUTTSEKZ?

  6. Whoa, she's in the forums now? Larry better hope that Bladiator never finds out...

Do you guys feel invaded?

As for Bladiator...you guys have so little confidence in your favorite "Mulatto Stallion."

Sure, Larry doesn't have the charm with the ladies or the romantic skills at the piano like Bladiator. Sure he isn't 6'7" with whispy blonde hair and soulfull blue eyes...

And sure, he recently sired little D'Kwandishawn leaving him forever bound to a woman whose name sounds like some dangerous kind of sushi...

But he's got one thing the B-Unit will never have---

The complete episodes of Batman: The Animated Series on cd.

    :D

She must like guys in black.

  7. OK, so this is one of the best emotional/'get you into the song' pieces. I was pulled in almost instantly and caught myself swaying back and forth to it. It's one of those pieces that's repititious, but you just don't give a damn because it grabs you.

But, I don't honestly see why there's so much hype. The only thing I see that's really outstanding is that such few notes/instruments could cause such an effect. From about 2:50 to 3:30 you lose me (notice that's a little after it goes real quiet; you kinda lose me there every time). A horrible note on 3:32 that just sticks in my side. Piece picks up by the end with a little more energy than before, but I still have that captivated feel.

It is still an impressive mix, that subconciously I was lulled, but not mastered very well. Still, great job.
