Legend of Zelda - Fairy Fountain

That is probably the best critique I have ever received on this website. Virtually everything you said I agree on. I got way to close to the arrangement and mix of the song and lost a lot of perspective. I think I might pull this off the website in the near future and make an extended version, now that you mention it.
  2. Hey Guys! I just started a new Tribute to Zelda playlist and I am very happy to share my first track of the playlist with everyone. BACKSTORY------------ While studying music in college I went back and listened to much of the music from the video game series of Zelda and realized how genius the music was. I fell in love with it all over again and wanted to rearrange and recreate it. Soon after I tried to started, things fell apart as I couldn't find the resources or motivation to actually follow through. A couple of years later I've finally decided to try again and see where things go with it. ------------------------------- Original - https://youtu.be/bAMzIihPjAg?t=42m48s Remix - https://soundcloud.com/roryglenn/fairy-fountain?in=roryglenn/sets/tribute-to-legend-of-zelda I had a sound in my head when I started writing. A large ensemble with the addition of some unusual instruments, like a plucked piano mixed with a room of five different harp players playing the same melody. Quickly after I did that, I threw in the orchestra, some ambient sound design, and synthesizers to round out the sound, and there you have it. I would really appreciate it if you could provide me with any feedback whatsoever. Hope you like it, -Rory

    Metroid Prime - Ridley

Hey OCR! This song contains the Ridley theme from some of the earlier Metroid games, though the exact version I was constantly referencing is from Metroid Prime 1. I am very excited to share this with you guys, as it is my favorite arrangement that I have done in my "Tribute to Metroid" playlist. To reiterate my intentions on making this, here are my thoughts. "I had this idea of taking the song and making it darker, more cinematic, and more aggressive with some heavy hitting drums and percussion. I tried to keep in mind the balance of familiarity (the common melody that everyone knows) and the unknown (new interesting ideas)". With that concept in mind, I would really appreciate it if you could take a listen and let me know what you think! Hope you like it, -Rory Remix - https://soundcloud.com/roryglenn/ridley?in=roryglenn/sets/tribute-to-metroid-prime Original - https://youtu.be/tBq_SueS8oo?t=2h24m4s

    Metroid Prime - Title Theme

Thanks for the positive responses everyone. Is there any part of the song that bugged you or that you thought could have been better?
  5. Hey Guys! This is my very first post on this website and I'm excited that I found out about it. I've wanted to do arrangements/remixes of the themes from the Metroid Prime trilogy for many years now. Just recently I found the motivation to finally step up and see what I can do with it. This song contains the "Title Theme" from MP1 and I think Other M as well. I had this idea of taking the song and making it darker, more cinematic, and more aggressive with some heavy hitting drums and percussion. I tried to keep in mind the balance of familiarity (the common melody that everyone knows) and the unknown (new interesting ideas), however I've listened to it so many times while mixing that I have lost all perspective and would like to know what you guys think about it. I would really appreciate it if you could provide me with any feedback whatsoever. Hope you like it, -Rory remix - https://soundcloud.com/roryglenn/title-theme?in=roryglenn/sets/tribute-to-metroid-prime original - https://youtu.be/tBq_SueS8oo?t=1s
