  1. Hi there

I always loved this theme, loved its eerie/magical feel, and thought it would make for a nice chillout kind of theme... well, I decided to give it a try...

    This is the original:

And this is how my remix is sounding so far:

Still work to do, gotta work on those drums, build some variation and expand the original, which is a good source and easily "expandable" me thinks :)

Hope you like it so far and if so, feedback is much appreciated. If you want to chop your ears off after listening, also leave a comment, and attach a photo if you actually do so ;-)

    Cheers!!!

  2. Hey there!

A while ago I posted a WIP of this theme and now it's done :-)

This is the source, for nostalgics and for those who didn't play the game (please, do! it's so good!)

I know it's not OCR material, more of a remake like DjMokran would say ;-) as I guess it's too close to the original, for starters, but I'm quite happy with the result and maybe some would enjoy listening to my take on this great theme :-)

Hope you enjoy! And leave feedback if you want :-)

    Cheers!

  3. Hey there! :-) Thanks for your feedback!

You're right... as I keep listening more and more to what I got so far, that piano annoys me more and more.. I'll work on that :-)

As far as sticking close to the source, yeah, for starters I always try reproducing the main melodies that stick out to me and make me recognize the original, but I might add some more personalization once I got the basics covered, which takes me a while not knowing how to play an instrument ;-)

Thanks for taking your time to listen and comment and for pointing out that Dinamyte Headdy album... very appropriately titled btw ;-) I'll sure take my time to listen and I'll look forward to that other project you mention ;-)

    Thanks again! :-D

  4. Hello everyone!

I'm currently working on an arrangement of one of my all-time favorite tracks from any videogame, which happens to be included in a little piece of art from 1994 called Dynamite Headdy for the Sega Genesis (by Treasure, what else needs to be said).

This is what the original sounded like:

    http://youtu.be/aGSThT6CYMM

And this is my initial take on it:

    https://www.box.com/s/d9c97d03f16898ec9f9c

It's still in an early stage but I already recreated most part of the main melody and still staying faithful to the original. Drums are looped, a proper intro is missing, tons of details here and there and so on but I like how it's sounding so far, so I'm probably going to keep working on it and post it back here once it's finished. :-)

A bit of feedback is always appreciated and useful though, so if you have any comment about how great Treasure are, why did they leave Konami or even about this arrangement here, I'd be delighted to listen ;-)

Thanks for listening and hope you enjoy!

  5. Hey there!

Thank you so much for your comments! I really appreciate them :)

I'm really glad to see you still remembered the previous arrangement I did from this game. Surely your comment was one of the most constructive and overall useful I got back then :-) Same can be said this time. You're right this is more of an update and stays fairly loyal to the original... I guess this time I didn't try to add much new stuff to it, although I did in certain parts... probably because this time I didn't work with the pressure of trying to make it to OCremix (you know too close to the original used to mean a NO in here... don't know how things are now but it surely was this way back then... still, I agree with you again in the lenght... listening to it now I'd have probably made it longer, but I guess I wanted to get it done before I got bored and stopped working on it, which is something that happens to me often with arrangements ;-)

This time though I tried to improve the overall sound quality... I remember you told me the Training Grounds remix had some problems with production, which I also agree (can I agree more with you? I don't think so lol) and this time I tried to make it sound crisper, although I still got much to learn in terms of production :)

All in all, thanks again for commenting again :-) I surely will go back to Ragnacenty one of these days so I'll make sure I'll let you know about it when that happens.

    Cheers mate!

  6. Hello there!

I recently finished an arrangement of the fairly obscure RPG game Crusader of Centy, aka Soleil in Europe, for the Sega Genesis dating back from 94. The theme I chose to arrange is the World Map theme, one of the best of the game in my opinion and the one you hear the most throughout the game.

This is how the original sounded like:

    And this is my arrangement:

Also, this is a video in which this arrangement appears kind of integrated in the game... kind of ;-)

I hope you enjoy it, whether you know the game and are up for a nostalgia moment or simply because you like how it sounds. I know it sticks a lot to the original, but I don't plan to send it to OCremix for review, just wanted to make it available to anyone who wants to listen and make it sound the way I remember it. It is not an updated MIDI in any case, everything is done by ear.

    Thanks for reading/listening! :-)

  7. I loved your arrangement! In fact, I loved it so much that it took me to your youtube page, made me listen to many of your works and instantly subscribed to your channel! I love orchestrated arrangements of videogames and, no doubt, yours are among the best ones I've ever heard. This is how Saria's Song was always supposed to sound like, IMHO.

By the way, I really do like your musical tips as well... I sometimes arrange some game music, but neither my skills nor my fonts can compare to yours, so it's really helpful to read those tips! Hey, if you ever feel bored, I posted a WIP of an arrangement here, a week ago... Crusader of Centy, dunno if you know the game... it's on the second page already lol... but yeah, I think I'll take a close look at your videos and I'm sure I'll learn a few useful things!

    Keep up the amazing work!

  8. Hello there!

I'm currently working on an arrangement of the Overworld theme in the precious and fairly obscure "Zelda for Genesis", Crusader of Centy, aka Soleil in Europe and Ragnacenty in Japan.

This is how the original sounded like:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bhiu5JIwjG0

And this is the arrangement I'm currently working on:

    http://www.box.net/shared/tic52qrp9flbrskc68cm

It's obviously unfinished and I'm still sticking to the original a lot, although I plan on adding new melodies, polishing transitions and everything already made, plus adding variety to the drums, which are VERY looped right now.

Anyway, for all the fans of this game out there, I hope you enjoy it so far and of course, if you wanna make any comments, you are more than welcome and they will make me very happy for sure, good or bad ;-). I'll post it again when it's done :-)

    Thanks for reading/listening!

  9. I feel nostalgic without having played the game.

That is exactly one of the feelings I'd want people to have when listening to it... to me the feeling is similar to the ones I get when I listen to a closing theme of any cartoon I used to watch in the 80s... nostalgia above all... that's why a crisp clear production wasn't that important to me and I cared more about the feeling you described :-D

  10. Hey!

So glad you liked it :D

As far as production goes, I made it using free soundfonts maybe 6 or 7 years ago with Fruity Loops so, for me, this is as good as it could get... maybe Youtube makes it a bit worse but to me, it sounded a bit more retro like that and I thought it kinda fit the song and its context :)

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever finish it or submit it. I actually did it for fun, because I really love some videogame music and I have never stopped listening to it... but I'm just someone who played with things a bit ;-) I liked how things were going with this though, so i decided I'd play with it a bit more and eventually it was in a stage where it could be enjoyed, although it wasnt finished. After some years I decided I'd share it :-)

Thanks for commenting and for your really constructive criticism ;-)

  11. Hi,

I post here every hundred years almost :P

Recently I posted in youtube an old work in progress I had done for OCremix that I never got to submit. It was an arrangement of Crusader of Centy, the Rafflesia Training Grounds theme, a theme I really liked as a kid.

It got good reviews so far, so I thought there might be someone here as well who would like to take a listen to it :-)

    Hope you like it ;-)

Here's the original, just in case you haven't played the game.

    Thanks!
