  1. Hello OC Remix!

Back in 2002 I wrote a nine minute classical piece using Noteworthy Composer to coincide with a fiction I was writing. Noteworthy Composer is known as strictly a notation software but would be able to play songs written in it through basic MIDI (e.g. Microsoft Wavetable Synth); thus, the song was written but not produced. After many years of not working on music, I recently bought some music production equipment and FL Studio. I have written a few remixes and original pieces but they have not been up to par with the quality of most remixes on OC Remix. However, I decided to finally produce this orchestral piece. The result is awesome! I also recorded my own clarinet playing. Please take a listen and let me know what you think. Following is the link to Sound Cloud:

I am hoping to further improve my classical/orchestral producing and writing abilities in the near future. I am planning on doing a orchestral remix/arrangement of a video game theme. I'd love to submit that to OC Remix when I'm done. Thank you for your time.

  2. Really? This is the first response to this thread? It's called "licensing."

I'm sorry if I have no experience in publishing music for profit based upon themes created by someone else. I was just curious so please lighten up. It is just that I did not notice any credit given to Masato Nakamura or Sega on the album's page at overclockedrecords.com. I listened through most of the album on SoundCloud and it does sound nice. I have always liked Jivemaster remixes.

I have listened to way too much Overclocked Remix music over the years and I love it! And I especially like your stuff Beatdrop. ;)

  3. I have some experience with this song and since you, djpretzel, have chosen the route of deep bass and bass-drum then the major key that you are using would not seem to work (all that well). You can do two things, stop the song from trying to be cool AS WELL AS being deep OR keep it being cool etc but to put it into a minor key (the same key, just 3 flats more...). I'm sure you've done this... but...

Good remix none-the-less, it's still enjoyable and, well, yea, fits the short amount of time nicely.

  4. My appreciation for Alex Kidd is extremely high especually through this game, Alex Kidd in Miracle World. I have done some arrangements through MIDI (NoteWorthy Composer) such as the main level theme and the castle theme but I never finished them. I know that I must get to the castle theme again (scary!) because I am so good at dark and fast paced music (I'm not thinking of doing classical with it, foo'! although...). The music is Alex Kidd in Miracle World is perfect for arrangements and DJ Pretzel has done a good job.

I can say that some of the things that I have heard (not many) through DJ Pretzel allowed me to quickly turn the other way (downloaded through KaZaA) but through just this "remix" I have to commend him because it is just very kick-toosh. I agree with endblink that it would so fun to listen to it on a sunny day with the wind blowing in one's face but also in a convertable bumping the music. If I would bump any music in a car then THIS would be it because I have always been a big fan of classic video game music (Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3, yo!). Thanks for such a great arrangement and a great site Mr. Pretzel... and make mine with EXTRA salt and butter!
