  1. I don't know if this is the right thread, so please forgive me...

This last sunday I've been watching TV when I heard some familiar music playing in the background. It was something out of Super Metroid, one of it's many remixes on ocremix.org...! That in itself is quite a sensation for german TV ;-P

You can watch the video here:

    http://www.prosieben.de/tv/galileo/videos/ganze-folge-sonntag/

I don't know how long, though...

Skip to the very end of the video, right to 53:25. It's some "documentation" on the hotness of chilis ("Galileo" once wa a great science show, nowadays it just sucks)... I've done some research. Playing in the background is 'Premonition of fell purpose' from the very first OCR album 'Relics of the Chozo', remixed by Protricity.

So, is this the right place to post that bit of information, should I talk to someone else or is this simply not important...?

I take it ocremix.org or at least the remixer in question holds some rights to his music, right?

    Cheers, NinjaN

    EDIT:

Just found the video somewhere else, and shorter:

    http://www.prosieben.de/tv/galileo/videos/clip/149901-die-schaerfste-chilli-der-welt-1.2399103/

  2. Achievement unlocked:

Give something back to the community which gave you countless hours of great music

That app has some flaws which will hopefully be fixed in future updates, namely the limited playlists (512 entries max).

But it was a great find indeed *pats self on shoulder*

  3. Sorry for the necro-bump but I had to let you know:

There IS an app for playing chiptunes on your iPhone / iPod touch / iPad, and that plays about 400 (!) different formats, including GBS, NSF, SPC and many more. It even has direct access to Modland and HVSC databases to allow downloads from there. Also, you can browse the web (this site, for example), download compatible chiptunes here and play them!

As an added bonus, there's an in-built FTP server, so you can upload your local collection and directory tree up to your iDevice...

That app is called Modizer, here in Germany it costs 0,79 €, should be about 99 cents for americans.

Hope this helps anybody out there...

    Cheers, NinjaN

  4. Looking good on you...

I don't really look for a "ninja" skin since I don't want to be one.

My nick just stuck with me for several years now, I don't even remember it's source...

I COULD look for a pirate skin... A pirate named ninja, get it?

    It would be hilarious!

    Well, for me at least...

  5. I don't know the word arsonist (and I'm too lazy to look it up) but one of the forest fires was caused by me...

It's located right of spawn, on an island behind a frozen part of sea, right next to my (rebuilt) house. I've tried to build an oven fire inside a wooden house. I now know this is a dumb idea... I promise to not do it again!

  6. [...]

You're welcome, THE NINJA (whoever you are).

    [...]

If you mean me, that's exactly what I meant. I just happen to be the guy who is therethat nobody really notices... Thanks for whitelisting me!

The progress some people made is surprising.

Yeah, my signature is there (bottom left corner)!

    And damn, it's upside down!

Tonight I'll pop into the game, gotta start some building of my own before all the place around spawn is taken...

Do we please make more sprites in this world? Should be kind of natural in this community, right?

  7. Hi there,

although it's most likely nobody here knows me, I'd like to be whitelisted as well...

MineCraft Handle is same as my username here...

I have just recently bought MC and did not yet craft some megaproject. I'm happy to have found my very first diamond (in single player) yesterday!

I'd be happy to help with some of your projects. I've already cleared some of the room for that creeper temple...

Looking forward to playing with you guys and the halloween update!

  8. you need friends for that

Well, I know that, of course...

As I've written above, I don't have any friends - with SSBB, that is.

    So the real question was:

Is somebody here willing to do a short friends match with me?

    *looks over to Atma*

  9. So, I finally got SSBB into my grubby little hands!

Remember, Europe just got this game some days ago...

I have played quite some time now (finished Subspace Emmisionary or whatever it's called) and am looking to play online now...

    Only problem, I can't!

Whenever I try to play online, the Wii can't find opponents. Spectating other matches works fine and without any noticable lag, but I don't want to watch, I want to play!

I've already asked my good friend google and he told me to adjust some settings, which I already did. This is how everything is configured right now:

    Wii Settings:

    IP: 192.168.1.110

    Router Settings (Draytek Vigor 2500):

    Port Forwarding to: IP: 192.16.1.110

    Open Ports: TCP: 80, 443, 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920

    UDP: all (1 to 65535)

This is my first WiFi-enabled game and I just want to play online now...

Did I do something wrong? Is there some setting I have overlooked?

I don't have a friend with SSBB, so I can't test friend matches...

In case somebody wants to help me, here's my SSBB friend code:

    0817-5350-0661

    Please help, fellow brawlers!

  10. It was never officially alive; just a fun project.

But in the interest of identification, I'm definitely willing to print and pass 'em out at meetups or whatever, after finding the best low-cost method. I'll tweak my designs later this week: look into other viable sans-serif fonts, create a rear, stuff like that.

    Thanks for the clarification!

Of course I knew this was no official project, just a bunch of geeks throwing in some ideas... ;-P

As I said, I really like this idea and I WANT TO HAVE SUCH A CARD!

Since it's extremely unlikely we will EVER meet (I live in Germany), could you post your template or otherwise give me the final files, so I can print it out myself?

Of course, you could print it, but I think shipping it to me would cost too much...

Anyways, no need to hurry! Take your time and do a good job.

    You have my respect already.

  11. Not sure if this is what you are loking for...

Do you know "Machinae Supremacy" (Website)?

They make really good music imho. What stands out here is that they use one SID station (sound chip used in the Commodore 64) for their songs, hence they call their music "SID metal"

Check out their MySpace site where you can listen to some songs from their latest album "Overworld"

Also, these guys actually sing, not just screaming into the mic... ;-P

  12. These cards are looking good! Albeit, I'd rather have the blue one for me, gray just is not my color...

    For the curious:

I still stick to the idea of the 2D barcode. I just installed a reader for these codes on my cell phone (Nokia 6600, reader application available here) and it works great!

You just have to point the camera in the right direction, so it "sees" the data matrix, which is then automatically translated...

This way, everybody could have the link to his forum profile encoded on his card... Of course other persons will have to have compatible cell phones, but I think there're even readers for digital images, so one could just take a photograph of the matrix and "read" it later on his PC...

Anyway, is there some way to really manufacture these cards?

I mean, printing and laminating, then cutting it would do the trick but I think it would feel... cheap. Are there shops which actually print these cards in low quantities?

    NinjaN

  13. I would totally carry one of these cards, even if I'm just one of those forum lurkers... ;-P

I like being (white and) nerdy!

    But I have one suggestion:

No barcodes please! These are really outdated and one needs a special scanner to actually read them.

Does anyone here know 2D barcodes, aka Data Matrix?

These can contain much more information (I think up to 50 characters) and there are applications for camera cell phones to read them.

As an example, here's the (nonexistant) URL "http://www.ocremix.org/remixer/ninjan" encoded as a data matrix:

    datamatrix.png

These images can be quite small, so there shouldn't be a problem fitting these on the card...

There're GPL'ed editors, I've used an online application available here

Personally, I think these look better (and more official) than regular barcodes...

  14. Guess who's gonna get it tomorrow...

    IT'S A ME!

But, unfortunatley, I'm not at home this weekend, so I can play monday evening at best...

I hope there will be some tournaments!

If not, I will try to set one up on my own (for Europe only... ;-( )

    @Kak:

How did you get it already?

Tomorrow is the release date in Europe where it hits first.

Did some store break the street date or do you have a "good friend" in some shop?
