    If you missed out on getting halloween parts, I have a plethora of extras that I'm offering up on a first come first serve basis, unless I hate you, then I'll just reject you and move on to the next person.

    Try to be generous and not just claim all of them, leave some for others.

    They're free, but I won't say no if you feel you must give me something in return.

    Oh, right, that's the other thing that sucks: less than two weeks' worth of event isn't nearly enough time to get everything unless you go into hardcore grind mode and/or have a ton of metal to trade for them and/or just buy everything. Since the Halloween stuff is now wearable during full moons, the least they could do is turn present drops on then too.

    I sell my extras for 2 scrap each. It doesn't take THAT much metal. But I do agree it can be supremely annoying to find a server where there's one or two scouts who do nothing but hoover up gifts.

    Personally I grabbed my bio lab homework, parked on a server that was doing a rotation, and spent the entire day on there. I can now draw the life cycle of seedless vascular plants, and I have all 27 pieces.

    Crap...more presents to farm. And I still don't have all of the masks from last year that I was trying to chase down. Guess I know what I'm doing for the next couple of weeks.

    What masks from last year are you missing?

    I got my Strange Degreaser woo woo. Just need to find people with S30s and get cracking.

    I have a Non-Craftable Warrior's Spirit (Bought more than $20 worth of stuff from the store) that I'll give away to a good home if anyone still needs them. They're the bear claws for Heavy.

    If anyone stumbles across a Series 30 crate and doesn't plan to open it, I'm looking for a few to jam these keys into. Strange Gunslinger woo woo.

    Also I spent an hour and a half on the loadout presets trying to get the perfect setups.

    Most of this was spent on hat/misc combos.

    There were other mental issues I was dealing with, but the video games did contribute - and as mentioned in the video, generally, life sucks pretty hard for someone to dive into things like that.

    I spend what time and effort I can advocating that video games can be a tool for good if used right. Cases like mine are an exception, and don't happen just because of video games, there's always other things going on.

    So I've been marathoning this over the past week or so - been meaning to ever since I caught Sephfire being interviewed on OCAD - and I hit the second part of the game addiction video. And it may have been said already in this thread, but that episode was...really, really powerful. I was shaking by the end, mostly from dredged up memories of the time I spent there, and the hell it caused.

    I've been down that road. It contributed to spending 6 months in a mental hospital - through December. I missed Christmas with my family, spending it instead 100 miles away in a room with bars on the windows and bolted locks on all the doors. It's...game compulsion is a horrible thing to go through, and it's something I consider the absolute lowest point of my life. I didn't stop for eating - or hygiene, at all. Just played and played and played.

    I am very glad James managed to pull out, and that most of his friends pulled out. I think it's a good thing to push the message out, that if you're in that hole, it's never too late to reach up and get pulled out. It's one of the hardest things to do, to reach up initially, but it's worth it.

    Were all 3 of them unboxes? I have 3 unusuals, but 2 of them were from my trading away various high-value promos.

    Edit: Also, servers are back up.

    I missed this. Whoops.

    Two were unboxes (One indirectly, I unboxed an unusual, traded up to what I wanted with little difficulty) and the third was a gift from a friend.

    Short version: Valve pushed an update out to the schema a bit early, revealed a butt-load of new things coming out eventually.

    New items include: Sniper Bandana Hair, Heavy Bandana Hair, Spy Disguised Hat, Heavy Lumberjack Hat, Demo Hendrix Hat, Engineer Hair, Engineer Blueprints, Mighty Pirate, The Bootlegger (boots), The Scotland Shard (bottle), Bloody Bombs (glasses), Solder Sea Captain Hat, Pyro Sailor Hat, Heavy Gym Hair, Scout Hotdog Hat, Pyro Birdcage Hat, Medic Stahlhelm Hat, Scout Backwards Cap, Sniper Necklace (necklace), Flair Buttons (equippable buttons), Medic Pocket Square, Medic Stethoscope, Spy Inspector Hat, Sniper Cork Hat, Pyro Flamenco Hat, Engineer Cranial Claw, Spy Specs, Scout 3D Glasses, Solder Cowboy Hat, Pyro Conscience, Scout Provision Hat.

    HiFive Taunt Enabler added, seems to be activated by holding down the taunt button for a few seconds.

    The Pummeling Picket has "item_class": "saxxy" and "item_type_name": "TF_Weapon_Sign", and also has customizable textures. Can be used by every class except the Spy and Engineer.

    The Bootlegger, Scotland Shard, Bloody Bombs, Mighty Pirate are part of the 'Swashbucklers Swag' set.

    The Pocket Medic can now be equipped by the Soldier.

    Also added are Photo Badge, ID Badge, Stampable Medal, which have a "can_customize_texture": true, attribute.

    Customize Texture Tool is a new tool you can use to create custom textures.

    An expiration date attribute was added, use unknown.

    Christmas Key 2010 was added, which seems to be a placeholder for a new holiday key.

    Athletic Supporter and Superfan made craftable.

    The beta weapons were added, with beta names, which seems to be a mistake.

    And I /just/ managed to get all the pyro hats. Harumph.

    So, they introduced Series 29 crates, with Strange Black Box, Strange Razorback,and Strange Axetinguishers into the game.

    As someone with no money to open crates due to family events, if anyone has any of those (Axetinguisher especially), I'd be eternally grateful if you would let me trade it off you

    @brushfire Just to spite you, I'm gonna craft all my weps to untradable metal and all my hats to hatless ones.

    But seriously I'll reconsider leaving permanently. I just feel useless to any team no matter what i do right now.

    Oh and powerlord, I wasn't kidding when I said to give the reserved slot to someone else. I really don't need it.

    It's easy to get that feeling after being thrown onto the side that gets rolled more than once.

    The trick is to realize that if it's irritating you, and scrambles aren't happening, take a break and come back in a few hours.

    As for classes itself, offline practice vs bots works surprisingly well in getting the kinks out. I've gotten myself pretty good at Sniper by just endless bot practice. Pick a class and see what you can do. Go Soldier and see if you can pop people into the air then nail them again. Go Pyro and practice poofing. Go Scout and practice being an ADHD son of a bitch will you stay fucking STILL FUCK you and your named scattergun.

    If you want to test your team's intelligence, go Medic. If they don't protect you, there's no hope for them. Teamswitch or go to another server.

    As a sidenote, these appear to be insanely common, or something's goofed, or the rarity comes from the weapon pulled. A friend popped a 20 and a 21, and got Strange Shottys back to back. Don't go dumping hats on someone for one until we can figure out what's going on with this thing's rarity.
