  1. Thanks. Yeah, my Roy has been languishing for years. I lose more matches than I win with him.

Quick question: I've been searching for these vids on youtube through the search engine, but I can't find them. Anyone know why they wouldn't show up?

I think it's because the videos are relatively new, and the site search index hasn't been updated to include those tags, etc.

EDIT: YouTube say so here. Nice videos, though. The only suggestion I can make is getting the video out from the TV to your camera, if your camera has those ports... better than taking video of the screen. Nice music choices. You two are pretty close in skill, I guess?

  2. It just dawned on me! Take a MMORPG but take out all the assholes... but since there's no way to screen, I guess we'd have to just make it single player. I guess that eliminates the "multiplayer"... And it's not longer "massive". Guess there's no reason for "online" then either.

Ah, yes, that leaves us with something called an "RPG". Someone should make a game like that. It sounds rather neat.

EDIT: As for games I wish were made? One of my favorite games of all time was Homeworld. I wish someone would make a space-sim/RPG thing in that universe. Like a good Freelancer. Or a non-MMORPG EVE. Or a modern Elite. etc. I think you get the picture. Maybe a ship designer like GalCiv2. That'd be really nifty.

  3. I think my spirit would be crushed if this was the first week without a character profile update...

You have a pretty fragile spirit, then... I'd rather have more final smashes than a profile for a character we already know about.

But Friday updates are usually pretty epic, right?

  4. A judgehate thread that's actually interesting? Nah.

Gotta give respect to Larry for arguing his case in a friendly way. (I can't imagine the number of times he's had to do so... I think I'd crack after a while.) Plus dropping some nice hints of what's to come.

I'm wanting to agree with megadave here, but I think it's just that I miss VGMix.

judgehate thread, evolve into Ryan8bit thread! Yay!

  5. It's a fun idea, and I agree with most of it, but I wasn't asking for a retcon - NSMB had very little to do with (old) SMB, stagewise. Aside from a few little doses of nostalgia, it was a totally new game. So yeah. NSM, please. On Wii. Make it pretty.

    Go Nintendo, go!

  6. No dammit :P (using a DS game for example)NSMB was fun, but I think I'd still prefer 2d.

NSMB was pretty good looking... I think taking the same approach to Metroid (a New Super Metroid?) would be pretty nifty. It wasn't just the visuals, it was that the developers went back and reimagined the old game with the new moves, artistic style, etc.

Metroid (or Super Metroid, really) could get a lot out of that.

  7. Read the article earlier today. They applaud the pacing, and I'm glad to hear that beam stacking is back, ala Super Metroid. Also welcome: better backtracking, more ship interaction.

I'm excited for this even more now... Still don't like Dark Samus, but whatever. Love the series.

  8. I just back from a week-long vacation and had to read like twenty pages of this thread. You guys need to be funnier, dammit. With the exceptions of Archetype of Sagacity's post and the Newton's laws jokes, it was a miserable fail.

Although Jam Stunna's wife thing is kinda cute.

I did miss this thread for its sheer time-wasting abilities.

  9. So, months and months ago I gave up playing Trauma Center for Wii in frustration. After showing it to a friend last night, I decided to pick it back up. I had to relearn basically everything, and I got the basics back a lot better to the point where I'm passing the surgeries I was stuck on with little difficulty. Granted, I feel stupid for not understanding some of the basic procedures the first time through, but it ends up being a lot more fun when you know what you're actually doing. (Imagine that...)

Just trying to get this thread back to the actual games, instead of it being exclusively about Virtual Console. :D

  10. Since my Wii isn't that hot, and I feel bad when I have a red "off" power light, as apposed to my comforting orange "standby" one, I'm keeping my Connect24 enabled. Plus, I like the glowing slot.

Too bad Nintendo hasn't seen fit to grace us with any updates since Everybody Votes Channel.

  11. I think you all missed the true point of the update, which was clearly:

"Don’t fire! Do NOT fire that laser!

Why? ...Well, because it really hurts!"

Also, darn. I was hoping for Samus and ZSS to be different characters, but I did ask for something new from old characters. Be careful what you wish for.

  12. From the looks of it, the second player only facilitates a game that is already possible to bit with one player rather than making it possible to beat solely with a second player. The only thing the second player seems to do that the first player can't is freeze/move enemies/objects (both players have been seen shooting stars with the pointer control). Now what would be infinitely more interesting is if the second player could actually hinder the first player's progress in a pseudo-competitive fashion, hurling obstacles into Mario's path to make him slip up. That would make me want to call a friend over for sure.

The second player can help and hinder Mario. They can freeze enemies, but also put them in the path of Mario at the last minute, or freeze Mario at inconvenient times.

    So your wish came true.

I was more suprised by little 3rd party titles than the big ones like Metriod and Brawl. Im very much looking forward to seeing how de Blob turns out as well as EA's Blocks... that said Im still hanging out for SMG

De Blob looks amazing. I played it back when it was just his student project, translated into crappy English. Big props to THQ to picking this up for Wii, you have my respect.

And how wild is it that a big shot movie director sits down for a game of Wii Tennis with Miyamoto and afterwards decides he wants to make three games? Looking forward to all three of Spielberg's games, especially Blocks.

  13. Well, there is a reticle, but the Wiimote just isn't as accurate as a light gun because of the technology it's using (as opposed to how a light gun hooks in to your TV AV jacks). Plus, the Zapper is very awkward to use, IMO, because the trigger is on the front handle, and your rear hand can't provide support. It just kind of sits there grabbing the back handle and serving no purpose.

On the bright side, Ghost Squad looked pretty good, so if you need a shooter, that should be ahead of UC on the list.

Also, I got to see NiGHTS in action, and NiGHTS fans shouldn't be disappointed.

Super Mario Galaxy is, as it has always been, one hell of an impressive game.

QFT on all points. Front hand trigger is what killed the Zapper for me.

Ghose Squad is my second favorite light gun game series ever (after Time Crisis, of course).

    NiGHTS is itself, duh.

SMG is going to be amazing.

    Useless post is useless.

  14. That blurry thing in the image? Looks like one of those weak little goblins in Twilight Princess that hang out around the bridge.

Definitely is. Waay to skinny to be Bowser Jr.

EDIT: IIRC, they're called Bulbins. It shouldn't be too much of a stretch to think that if Sakurai's going to put King Bulbin in for stage interaction, maybe some of the minions will show up. Eh.

  15. Super Mario Galaxy Nov. 12? Pretty cool.

EDIT: Wii Fit? Craziness. Wonder how much the controller-y thing will be...

EDIT2: It's called the Wii Balance Board, apparently. And Reggie is fat, but good at soccer.
