Every game with good graphics is overrated. When it comes out, people piss their pants like it's the best thing ever, then about 10 years later, everyone complains that it sucks. This is nothing new.

I haven't once "pissed my pants" for any game this generation. (Came close with MGS4, but that's about it)

Donkey Kong Country will always hold a special place in my heart, nostalgia I assume. But even if you ignore the spectacular graphics and music the actual platforming is still very solid. It's usually simple stuff compared to other games but it's fun and there are a few moments where the difficulty is great. Overrated? Probably. A bad game? Not at all.
