I don't know why anyone would think DKC is awful.

Always felt it had more to do with fans overly hyping them causing others to look more at flaws/limitations than the good side of the games.

Example, the easily targeted Final Fantasy VII. A relatively good game yet with pig-disgusting fanboys & fangirls.
