Live recording help? ^w^;;

I do all live acoustic recording, and my equipment is starting to get old (and my laptop also) and my interface device isn't compatible with the new OS. I need to upgrade soon and would like some advice!

I'm currently using an MXL mic and a m-audio fast track pro USB interface device to hook up to my laptop. (using Sony Acid/Vegas Pro as my software)

Can anyone make some suggestions or give me some advice as to what would be a good upgrade?

Also, what are you planning to upgrade? Your computer, your audio recording equipment, or both? Which operating system?

The Fast-Track isn't compatible??? What are you planning on upgrading too. (I want to know becuase I also use it on Windows Vista 64-bit and it works fine with the driver from the website)

upgrading OS's isnt worth it, really. I upgraded to windows 7 64bit only to find that all the software i bought wasnt compatible with it because of i dont know why.

dont make my mistake. read carefully at what's compatible with anything you buy. should go without saying but for me...well i was a jackass.
