good brass vsts?

Any one know where I can find good free or cheap brass vsts? Specifically trumpet and trombone?

Get Kontakt Sax & Brass. It has great patches (and a wide variety of instrument/room/ensemble set ups), although it has a bit of a learning curve.

It works in the free Kore Player.

If $60 isn't the down the "cheap" alley for you, then I honestly would suggest waiting and saving up for it rather than getting some other cheap brass thing and then regretting it down the line.

I actually have the default kontakt 4 library and whatever else came w/ komplete 6, but I can't get the trumpet or trombone to sound real at all

Sorry to say the most convincing Trumpet and Trombone are not free but really fantastic.

Kontakt default doesn't have all of the patches in Kontakt Sax & Brass.

Also, you need to learn how to humanize them, because they're very workable patches.
