DragonAvenger
Really digging the sources, they remind me of Breath of Fire music, so that was pretty cool. You've taken on a difficult undertaking by trying to fit so many sources into one mix without sounding like a medley. In terms of that, I think you did pretty well, as the track as a whole doesn't sound disjointed. On the other hand, however, I felt like a lot of the source playing was somewhat conservative, and overall could use more of your own interpretation. Production is ok, but I felt like things were overall muddy, and could stand to be cleared up a lot, rhythm guitars and drums especially. I like your start here, you'd just have to take it further for it to be accepted. NO (resubmit)
OceansAndrew
This is pretty good and merges the individual themes together pretty well, but is being brought down in a few places, specifically production. For as relentless as the drums are, the kick is really flabby and doesn't cut. SO instead of a powerful double kick through the entire song, it sounds more like a faraway helicopter or something. The guitars sound alright, but the rhythms are a bit muddy, and overall I think some tuneups are needed Arrangement-wise, the sources are well-used, but seem a bit close to the originals, though I do think the fact that 7 sources are used mitigates the straightforward playing a bit. Add the fact that it's an obscure game, and playing it close to the original makes sense to me. I think overall if the production was fixed, i'd be comfortable passing this. halc
the writing was pretty straight-forward, but the arrangement overall was fine, well adapted to the style with some cool harmonic additions. nice guitar performances as well. I'd say it's a bit too long, or at least feels that way because the energy level and instrumentation doesn't really change much throughout the track. the sources were well integrated though, and the transitions were pretty solid. I agree that the production (as the others mentioned, the rhythms and drums in particular) needs some work. it's on the right track, though.
