Liontamer
http://www.snesmusic.org/spcsets/dkc.rsn - "Aquatic Ambiance" (dkc-08.spc) Short and sweet, because, no offense, I'm not gonna use much time on a subpar Aquatic Ambiance sub. Everyone loves the theme and never changes it. The only reason it worked in the older days of the site was because people were producing some stylish conservative takes of the theme back in the day. This wasn't it. Just monotonous as anything using just the first few bars from the original as the foundation here, the sounds were thin as well as the subsequent texture, and the arrangement had nothing to speak of. I apologize for being rude or glib, but for all 5:43 of it there was nothing redeeming. NO
Israfel
Pretty much with Larry on this one. This is a very conservative take on an already over-remixed piece. There's nothing really of substance added to the original, either. It seems the only arrangement decision was to simply have a lot of repeats. Harmony
Not much to add to what the other judges have said. The sample quality, production and level of arrangement aren't strong enough to support this repetitive of a mix. Summarily: needs lots of spice. Stop by the WIP and ReMixing forums for some helpful arrangement and sample processing advice and keep working at it. NO
GrayLightning
Aquatic Ambience is like the new Terra, at least this week. In addition to what the other judges said, there's a lot of distortion/clipping going on here. Arrange the mix more, there's barely anything here to judge. What merit does this have to showcase your personal style? Very little, if any. This also needs instrumentally and compositionally more low end, low/middle end frequencies, the atmosphere is very thin. As suggested, please use our WIP forum before submitting in the future. Keep working at it, but bring your A game next time. NO
