GarretGraves
As with every year, Christmas has made me rich. Looking to spend on a good organ patch to load in FL10. Anyone have any recommendations? Rock organs, Plenums, etc. is what I need.
Kanthos
Do you have NI Kontakt? If so, get NI Vintage Organs. It's basically their B4-II product, but sampled instead of synthesized - the B4-II is discontinued - and it sounds great. It's got the Hammond B3, C3, and M3s (probably what you'd think of as classic rock organ sound), plus the Vox Continental (In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, House Of The Rising Sun, etc.), and Farfisa Compact (Pink Floyd used it a lot; it's somewhere in between the B3 and Vox sounds). If you want a more pipe organ sound, Kontakt's got some in its stock library under the Orchestral section, or there's the Project SAM Organ Mystique product - never used it, but the demos sound great and there's a lot of control and options in it. GarretGraves
That's perfect! Exactly what I need! I love Pink Floyd and King Crimson and Dream Theater so I'm hella excited about this! And for 119 buckS?! Awesome! Thanks!
Yoozer
Hope you didn't buy anything yet - http://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=24 is cheaper and better. I got the Vintage Organs with Kontakt but it's not as good as their now defunct B4II.
GarretGraves
Haven't bought anything yet. But thanks for the reference. Now I got a tough choice to make.
Yoozer
Choice isn't tough. VB3 > B4II > Vintage Organs, problem solved.
Kanthos
I'm curious, Yoozer; what is it that makes VB3 better, besides the price? I've used both B4-II and Vintage Organs. Convince me why it would be worth buying VB3 when I've already got the other two.
Nase
http://www.kvraudio.com/q.php?search=1&ty[]=i&tg[]=7&pr[]=f give these a try first? VB3, according to many organ dudes on KVR, is just the superior hammond. there are others who favor freebies like Nubi LE. VH-2 is a good allrounder as well. Combo Model V is a bit more one-trick but it sounds great. you can honestly get such great organ sounds from freeware that spending money doesn't really offer huge benefits in sound. what you might get is added versatility (several organ models, fx like rotary speaker included) and maybe that extra bit of faithful emulation. which is hardly going to matter in a mix. i'm happy with the free ones, but VB3 would be what I'd buy based on user recommendations. Yoozer
when I've already got the other two. Then it won't make much sense. For mr. Graves, however, who is still looking, VB3 is newer/still updated/cheaper, and it takes far less room than a big sample library while being more effective. Kanthos
Yeah, I wasn't going to run out and buy anything new. I was just curious why you think VB3's more effective, sample size aside (since B4-II is on the small side too, though probably not as small as VB3). Yoozer
Effective only compared to a sample library which is always going to be more static than a modeling solution.
